have 11 years of waitressing or bartending under my belt. started at a truck stop. I've worked in regular restaurants, family owned and a chain ( like applebees or what have you). Also have worked in supper clubs and nice restaurants.I love the job, and you can make a lot of money at it if you are a good waitress. But you don't get paid much per hour, because they figure your tips into the minimum wage. Which it should be paid minium and tips are above and beyond.... It's hard to raise a family on that so that is why I got out of the food industry and into a line of work with better hours and pay. But, for a second job, not bad. I made the best tips at regular restaurants, or the supper clubs. Course, truck stops are faster paced and you can make a lot of money if you're fast and good. I always made very good tips, but the best money I made was as a bartender.

Yes. I waited tables for 4 years and made excellent money. It's fun but yes it is tiring. Your constantly running your a$s off. And then you have the extremely rude people who don't tip, but at the end of the night when your counting your tips it all pays off. If your old enough to work at the bar in a restaurant your gonna make real good :) Hope this helps

I worked at a Supper club. The tips were great. The work is hard and you have to have a lot of patience with people because then can get real picky, obnoxious and just down right rude at times.

I worked as a cocktail server before in t.g.i fridays.i assist the bartender and sometimes make drinks. It was fun working in that kind of environment cos you'll meet different kinds of people and learn how to deal with them.it also helps you improve your self confidence and test your patience esp. to those rude people. Its kinda tiring but worth it especially if you get big tips and thats what will complete your day. You'll love it i swear.

Ive been a waitress at a few places, but we don't have those restaurants in my town....we just have Perkins, Country Kitchen, and JB's.....if your a good server at Perkins you can easily pull in $100-$150 a night......pretty stressful work though if you ask me.

I've heard serving is a great way to make extra money. I could never do it cuz I'm too damn clumsy. And I think you actually start off as a hostess, so serving won't come til later.
