For constellations, I generally think of the stories behind the constellations. The names we have all come from the greek and roman mythologies, but most all other cultures have created their own constellations in the sky. For example, where we see the Big Dipper in the sky (which is actually an asterism, not a constellation, technically) other people see a plow, and still others see a drinking gourd. The ancient greeks saw a bear in Ursa Major, and so did the american indians.

For stars, I would talk about how stars all have different colors and what those colors relate to. That can lead into a discussion of the birth and death of stars - what will happen to our own Sun in 5 billion years, why do some stars go supernova, stuff like that. You can find lots of pretty pictures of stars forming and of stars dieing - the website for Hubble is a good place to start for pretty pictures: http://hubblesite.org/
