I've lived in my house for 6 years and my pilot light in my gas fireplace has never gone out by itselft until last week. I've have lit it 2 times during the week. I've decided to give up and just turn it of until I'm going to actually use it. Anyone have any ideas why it keeps going off by itself? Thanks.

Yup.
1 - Turn the gas supply off to the gas logs. 2 - Remove the gas logs from the fireplace. 3 - With a small, open end wrench, disconnect the pilot gas line from the gas valve to the pilot assembly. 4 - Remove the pilot assembly from the main frame. 5 - Insert a small pin or needle into the opening where the pilot flame comes out. 6 - Gently ream it out. 7 - Reattach the pilot assembly to the main frame, reconnect other end to the gas valve, reinstall the gas logs to the gas supply.
Note: It may be possible to get to the opening of the pilot assembly without removing anything, but the pilot is usually underneath and in a difficult position. This sounds like a difficult job, but it really isn't.
What is happening is trash from the gas is clogging up the output (orifice) of the pilot assembly. This is common.

If it appears to have a good flame the thrmocouple is bad or if pilot flame is too weak the gas port on pilot is partially plugged.
