Answer to this question was given by C.V.Raman.he told that blue had least wavelength so water absorbs all colour except blue so water appears blue

This is a trick of light!! You see the skies appear blue because blue light (which has the least wavelength) is scattered the most...Thus the water which reflects the sky also appears blue!!!!

exactly!!
blue is not the colour of water.......rather it is a result of the depth of the water.....
for e.g.
the water in a swimming pool seems blue because of it's depth

it is the same thing with water in the ocean

Because the water filters out all of the colors of the light spectrum except blue

yes, they say it is the reflection of the sky...its still amazes me, I was toldt that the color of the sky comes from the darkness of space.
