I agree up to a point. As was stated previously by another the system does learn and the key to this is...application and patience! When you rate, and I mean REALLY rate, your station starts to develop into exactly what you dreamed it would be. I can't say it isn't a bit of work but that's really half the fun. When I started I rated off of preset stations until I'd built up a base, something for the computer program to get a feel about what I was looking for. It did, providing me with what I'd rated highly then giving me 'new' music as well. If it was something I wasn't feeling then a simple press of the next button moved me to something else, sort of like a musical slot machine.
As an aside, you might check your settings. There is an option to play only rated music and it's quite effective though there are occasional unrated. This is due to FCC licensing and is in the fine print when you press 'agree to contract' upon sign up (what can I say, I was curious and actually read some of it)

Yes. I usually end up not even listening to my customized station because it most certainly is NOT customized. Actually it's pretty often that I hear a song and say what the f*** is this?! I've been choosing from the other stations based on what I feel like hearing at the moment.

Yes, sometimes I do find that they throw random songs in...but I think I find that the more you rate songs, the 'smarter' it gets about playing your 'type' of songs....but they still do throw in the randoms, which can be annoying!

Yes! Aak! It drives me up the wall! Any time it says "recommeded by Yahoo! Music," it's a skipper! God, why would they even imagine that I might like the latest crap by Byonce, Gwarbage Stephone (or whatever), or Toby Keith *gag*!
