First Remove the battery terminals from the battery ,negative - first.. clean the battery terminals with a battery terminal cleaner it don't hurt to clean them with baking soda and water .. use a Dielectric grease to coat and prevent farther corrosion..check and chargethe battery then... install the terminals positive+ first... Try to start the the engine.. if it still don't start then head to the starter, solenoid ,, if its a grinding sound , It could be the starter Bendix (drive) or the flywheel... I hope this helps you... Good Luck

Clickety clack, don't talk back. Your battery is probably too weak to make the starter turn the engine, against the compression of the inner workings! But, it will have enough power to make the radio, and lights come on.
Bite the bullet! Either go buy a new battery, or have the local garage tow your car in, check it, and pay them to install a new battery!
Guess which choice will be cheaper.
But, if you know nothing about batteries and cars in general, which i suspect you don't, then it might be cheaper, and smarter, to have the garage or gas station do it for you!
Being inexperienced with cars workings, you just might hook something up wrong, and fry a bunch of expensive things under the hood!

i own a repair shop, and just because the battery will play the radio, doesn't mean its got enough power to start the car with,it if just click it may have a loose cable on it or the solenoid switch for the starter has gone out on it,you need to have it checked real good just to be sure it may be something Else on it but by having it checked out real good you,ll know for sure what it is ,and then you can repair it,good luck with it,i hope this help,s.

there are several things it could be, start by checking the battery with a load test. if you dont have a tester you will need to find an honest mechanic so you don't get charged for excesive repair. if the battery passes the load test then you probably have a bad starter or starter solenoid. if this does'nt make any sense to you then you need a mechanic. good luck!!!!

The battery sends voltage to the solenoid. The solenoid boosts the voltage and moves the starter. I sounds like you have a bad solenoid. Some cars have a separate solenoid and others have the solenoid as part of the starter. This means you need to replace the solenoid or the entire starter depending on which kind you have.

Sound like the battery might not have a full charge or you could have a loose battery terminal
