You sound like you are right on target!

Remember, at the end of the pregnancy more weight is going on the baby than on you. During weeks 36-40 the baby can gain almost a pound a week!

Danger sign: If you start gaining a lot of weight in a short time---as in a couple of pounds a day for a few days in a row. If you suddenly balloon up, call your doctor.

But it sounds like you're doing fab.

Congrats on the baby!

It really depends on your prepregnancy weight and if you had lost any weight in the beginning of your pregnancy. If your Dr is not concerned with it then you shouldn't worry about it.

I gained a total of 42 lbs with this pregnancy(due any day) but my prepreg weight was 80lbs. Before pregnancy, I couldnt gain any weight and I eat alot.

With my 1st pregnancy, I gained 35lbs. I still lost it all before my pp check up.

So 23lbs is no where near gaining too much weight. Most drs want their patients to gain at least 20 during the pregnancy.

Not at all,,,a pregnant woman is expected to gain between 25 and 30 lbs during her pregnancy. You have 8 weeks to go, but usually there isn't any weight gain in the last couple of weeks. As long as your Dr. isn't concerned, you shouldn't be either. If you are worried about losing the weight after baby arrives, consider breastfeeding. Most women report a quicker return to their pre-pregnancy body after nursing. Good luck and congratulations :)

It's really all about your body. Some people gain 70 pounds, others gain only 20-30. The average amount is 40-50 pounds so it seems like your progressing nicely. As long as you feel healthy, don't worry about how much weight your gaining.

I'm 32 weeks along also, and I've gained about 27 lbs. My doctor said I'm right on track...so you are doing just fine! :) A lot of women gain a lot more than that by now...my aunt just had a baby, and at this time in her pregnancy she had gained 45 lbs already! Just make sure to eat healthy and you will be just fine :)

Congrats and good luck! ♥

I am 30 weeks and just went to the Dr. yesterday - I've only gained 20-ish pounds and she said that was fine. I think that's probably on the lower end of weight-gain, so you should be OK.

if the Dr. thought you gained too much, he would probably tell you.

Dont' worry!

I don't think so- if you gain 8 more lbs, (a pound a week) from here on out, that will be 31lbs total... they want you to gain between 25-35 lbs, so that leaves you an extra 4 lbs just incase. As long as you are healthy, you should be fine!

It's perfectly fine. An average size women should gain 25-30 lbs by week 40, but even if you gain more it's ok. I gained over 60lbs!

i wouldn't worry about how much you gain...worry about eating healthy and taking care of that little one inside you. weight gain in pregnancy depends on how many babies you are carrying. if you are carrying one then you should gain only around 25 to 35 lbs. but you really can't help water weight gain! That adds to your weight as well. Some women eat right and still gain more than the considered "normal" weight!

No--I think it's OK. I gained 37 total with my daughter. Just be aware that you can gain a lot in the 3rd trimester and most docs recommend not gaining more than 40 lbs total. Make sure you're eating veggies, lean meats, skim milk/yogurt, berries, grapes, etc--good carbs, not empty calories or just bulk.
