A marriage is not about the dress or the ring, or the party, or cost. It's about love...or it's supposed to be. People have lost the meaning of 'love' and many are in love with the idea of being in love. Marriage has NEARLY become just something do as it's become expected by our societies. Most people's marriages are doomed before they start...whether or not the groom sees the dress before the wedding day. For the romantic 'sparkle' then yes, it would be the perfect story if all traditional customs like 'not seeing the wedding dress' were followed, it's a nice idea I admit, but I don't think it's bad luck for the groom to see his to be bride in her dress. It adds the added surprise and 'awe' factor when she first appears, and that's endearing.

If you see it you see it. It's not a bad omen or anything - but I think the surprise would be nice if you don't see it.
It also really depends on the woman wearing it...I know some ladies would freak out about something like that and some wouldn't care. I am of the type who wouldn't care either way because I wasn't the type who like, planned my whole wedding out by the time I was 16. If she is one of those people however, you may need to be careful about even ASKING to see the dress beforehand. She may run off in tears. :)

I don't think that it is good or bad, but I do think that seeing it would take away from the surprise of seeing your bride all done up for you on your wedding day. My friend's husband saw hers, though, and was still surprised because he didn't see it on her and did not see what her hair and makeup and everything would look like or anything. I didn't let my husband see mine, though. I guess it is all a matter of preference.

It relies upon on how superstitious you're (and he's). and how a lot you want the "wow" component to be even as he first sees you contained in the gown (even if that is in the course of the ceremony once you walk down the aisle or if you're doing pictures earlier, the "show" scene even as he turns round and established sees you contained in the gown). some brides were comfortable with in basic terms describing the gown (grooms would have a decision of white over ivory or ballgown vs A-line ... yup, that is befell till now) Or if he needs, teach him a photo of the gown (yet not you in it - create some anticipation for the images!)

Check out this site, it's pretty cool: http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art7751.asp. A superstition or tradition is as powerful as you'll allow it to be. Your every thought has energy of it's own--if you devote a great deal of emotion and "energy" into thinking something is true, ultimately, it will be. Just keep that in mind--it works for both good and bad stuff.

GOOD. AT LEAST YOU'LL KNOW WHAT IT WILL LOOK LIKE. IT WOULD BE PRETTY HORRIBLE TO BE STANDING THERE EXPECTING A LONG FLOWING GOWN, AND END UP GETTING A SHORT TIGHT MINI.
