The terrorists thinks so. No matter what you all think of bush of republicans or any one who supports the war don't you think it would be even worse if we left? The iraqi government would fall to terrorists and our children will be worse off because of our unwillingness to finish the job.

War is terrible, I agree but we can't run away regardless, because we will lose if we do.

What if we would have ran away in WWII? We lost lots of soldiors there but do you disagree that it was the right thing to do?

It's just a simple question so please refrain from hurling childish insults.

Right on the money Joe. Regardless of your political beliefs, we cannot cut and run now!! That country would absolutely go to pieces. Talk about what would happen to the innocents.... most people have no ideal. What we've got to do is give our troops what they need to win this thing. If it's more troops, then send them. If that means political suicide for republicans, then take the pill.(me included) We must do what is right, not what is easiest.

Seems that way, doesn;t it.

I was in Washington on the day the war started. The streets were empty with all fearing some sort of bomb attack. I knew that this was a long term committment...not an in and out thing that we stumbled into years ago. I wondered at the time t the country had the guts to pursure a long term committment to drive out our enemies from their rat holes,or to clean up those that merely supported the concept of chaos in the world, the US or the middle east. I didn;t think so. Now I know so. The simple minded people of this country do not understand the complexities of what we are involved in. Neither does the government, it ends up.

One point everyone seems to not look at is that in the first gulf war, they signed a treaty that said . " There is a No Fly Zone in Northern and South Iraq. And that it would be patrolled by U.S. and U.K. aircraft." Well Iraq has shot missiles at both the U.S. and U.K. planes for over 12 years and sometimes more than 3 times a week. We have targeted their missile batteries and destroyed them. But that was never the point, they should have taken out the leadership the first time they shot at our planes. And to top it off, Iraq tried to kill the first President Bush when he visited the area. Bottom line, this should have been taken care of the first time they crossed the line!

considering that's...... it extremely is the super bowl for Terrorists. merely think of of Iraq using fact the Ballfield. It attracts terrorist like moths to a computer virus mild. So wee get to kill a super form of bugs. The Palestine issue is an component one. using fact the Lebanon invasion final year And the political infighting, they have been quiet. Afganistan is a Nato issue regularly. that's a low point counter insergency and Spec stress deal. no longer an entire scale war ala 2001 anymore.

let me start with your WWII ref.during wwII.there was a war to fight.in this case we made one up.we conjured up excuses to justify it.we went in with no plan to secure the peace.we have killed enough innocent civilians that we have created another generation that will seek revenge against us.some of them are already doing so.we have built an army in iraq that we refuse to properly arm because we are afraid that they might use it against israel one day.the resistance is better armed than the iraqi army,so they don't stand a chance.let me tell you that we will never be able to finish "the job".
and i will tell you why.the people fighting against as are not bin laden's men they are members of sadam hussen's presidential and palace gaurds.try this experiment.start paying attention to the news programmes on fighting in iraq.you will notice that most of the shite fighters carry their weapons like they are carrying toys.
but when we watch fighting in sunni controlled areas-these are the areas where we have suffered most of our casaulties-the fighters carry their guns the way only a soldier would.our military has stated that the sunni are better fighters than the shite.i wonder why it has not dawned on them that they are fighting sadam's men.the elite gaurds that we allowed to fade into the population.the men who took their sophisticated arms home with them.the men who were trainned in the art of distroying our abraham tanks and how to read cordinates and fire motars.we made too many mistakes in the biginning under poor leadership.
yet our young men have fought the good fight.lets take our men out and leave the iraqi's to their own devices.then they would have to decide whether to sink or swim.i know it is not romantic to blame these forces, but without them we will not have the problems we having today.

You're absolutely right... We can't just decide we have had enough and walk out. What the US does now will effect the US from now on.. If we leave the world will see us as weak, not only will we have to defend our own streets from those who wish us harm but our standing on the world stage will be forever blemished with a cut and run agenda attached to us.. Not only will the US be targeted but any small countries which depend on the US for their safety... We have to finish this..

You are correct on all fronts and thank you for your articulate, thoughtful and civil question.

The terrorists know if they lose in Iraq, if Iraq is able to establish a functioning democracy and stable economy, it will be a HUGE blow to their radical cause. They also know if the US leaves prematurely it will be a HUGE victory for them.

War IS terrible, but so is living in daily fear of your life, your children's lives, of being gassed, beheaded, raped, murdered and left to rot in a mass grave. The oil riches of that country have gone to build up the massive ego of Sadam for decades. Isn't it about time that the riches of a nation went to help the nation!

I agree....I am an independent..and certainly not happy about how this situation came about....but you would be a fool to think we could just up and leave at this point....I just asked a similar question!

But it appears neither Rep or Dem have come up with any idea's....we have tried to stablize Iraq for three years now.....it's not working...in fact it's gotten worse!
