Never owned an Alto but have had a couple of Suzuki Swifts. reliability was fine and had no major problems with the cars. The Alto should be no worse. Cheap motoring.

a very nice car. If you want something small and underpowered that is. At the same price as an alto you get the Indica Xeta, which is a brilliant car at that price.
get an alto only if you are a wimpy driver, and also for maruti's excellent service back up

one advantage is it has good pick up but other parts like
brake
gear
clutch
are vere slow to apply so it is a bad car
