I am a parent of 2 children. Both Under the age of 4, so I'm still fresh... And once I let me children have rice cereal I made sure they had no reaction within the first couple of days. If they don't have any reaction by that time and once it is digested and found its way back out of their system again they should be fine. The KEY to remember is that when you start a baby on any new "food" you should do it in the VERY beginning of the day. That way if it bothers them you can keep an eye on it all day long. There is nothing worse than having a child sick during the night. Just some mommy advice :)

I think that after 2-3 days on one food you can try him on something new but I recommend starting them on a vegetable first that way they don't get a sweet tooth for just the fruit. One thing that I like to do with my baby is I take the rice cereal and I mix it with the baby food so that there is more consistency in the food and that way they don't have a huge texture difference my children were used to the texture of the cereal and would not eat regular baby food so I mixed them together.

If you are thinking of switching cereals- like try Oatmeal, etc, I'll just tell you what happened when we did- our son wouldn't go back to the rice cereal. Then, around 7-8 months, he didn't want the cereal period. But as long as your baby likes the rice cereal, you can either keep giving him that along with some fruits and veggies (one at a time to make sure he isn't allergic) and then switch cereals. you can always ask your doctor too-they are good about telling you what your baby needs to be eating. I loved trying new foods- my son loved almost everything, so it was funny when he didn't like something (like peaches)... but remember too- if they don't like something, they say to try it at least 10 more times (different days) to make sure they really don't like it. thats what we did with the peaches, and now he loves them! weird! goodluck!

With any food wait 3-5 days before introducing anything else. Starting with Rice cereal you can try barley, then oatmeal, then mixed grain, then soy if you want. My son was on cereal for about a month before I tested the fruits, then once that was clear we moved onto veggies.

The main thing is to only feed one food at a time to make sure there are no allergies. If he has eaten rice cereal for 2 or 3 days with no problems you should be fine to try something else. HAVE FUN!

I would give him your baby about 3 weeks to get used to digesting the rice cereal and then move him/her onto other baby foods. That's what I have done with my kids and it worked out great!

You need to give Rice Cereal to him for 4 days before offering a new food to check for allergies.

You have a beautiful baby! I am a mom of two myself! Talk to you pedi about it. But i would say that about a few weeks after he starts eating cereal is good. As long as it is stage 1, he will be fine. Just wait about a week between each kind of food to watch for allergic reactions! good Luck!

I tried about 2 boxes of rice cereal first...then did the same with oat, then went to wheat. Then started on veggies...sweet potatoes, I was told to skip green veggies because they are hard on teh tummies.

you can introduce food anytime. they dont need to get used to the cereal. just make sure baby has the solid food swallowing technique down before making any changes. good luck!
