I am thinking about buying the North Face Quanticon Jacket but I am not sure about a few things. It says the average weight is 4lbs 5 oz. That is pretty heavy. Is this a bulky, heavy parka that should only be worn in extreme cold, or can this be worn on 40-50 degree average winter days where I live? Any thoughts would be much appreciated. thanks much.

yeah it looks fine, I have not heard of the heatseeker insulation but I sure it works, it has three jackets so the liner will be sufficient on many days and the combo will keep you warm when it is colder (I do not know what you definition of extreme cold is, but this jacket is probably not good past 0 degrees F.) also North face has gone up and down in quality over the past 10 years and I am not such a fan anymore, there are plenty of companies out there making a better product for the same price, Mt, Hardware, Lowe alpine, patagonia, sierra design, arcteryx, etc. and I would also check out the stretch jackets, like the mt. hardware alchemy jacket or anything similar, that is what I ware 95% or my ski days, I only put on a very light water prood shell, if it is very wet or snowing.
