I've tried platinum plugs, with no results. I've tried better gas or octane boosters, with no results. Yes the tires are inflated properly, and NO, I,m not going to take out the back seats to lighten the load. I've had my cruiser for a year now. I love everything about it except the gas millage. And, it doesn't steer as well as my 1985 T-bird did. Is that because the cruiser is a front wheel drive and the T-bird was a rear wheel drive, or could there be something wrong with the front end or steering. The tires are wearing good, and it tracks a straight line.

Sorry. I have quite a few customers with Pt Cruisers and most of them complain about poor fuel economy.. lets face it these cars we rent built in a wind tunnel for efficiency .. not to mention Chrysler engines aren't the best on fuel economy as far as steering goes the front wheel drive has nothing to do with it , actually it should improve it...I had an 89 T Bird and It was a nice car rode well, handled well and was very smothe and comfortable and very QUIET>>>>more so than the PT Cruiser, Sorry I couldnt give you better news...

One of my auto body technicians has a Cruiser. He adds 1 oz of acetone for every 5 gallons of fuel and he's getting an extra 5-10 miles per gallon (depending on his driving).

keeping your speed constant is another factor... not "jumping off the line" at red lights.... if it has cruise control - use it and keep the speed just at 55 miles per hour...studies have shown a significant increase in gas mileage at that speed.
