I'm curious to know if the nitrogen/oxygen (and myriad other components) ratio would change to any significant degree.

The gases that are 'held' by the Earths gravity depend on their density and the force of gravity. There would probably be slightly more helium (released by volcanic activity), hydrogen and significantly more methane. As the densities of oxygen and nitrogen are very similar (32 and 28 respectively) the proportions of these two gases would remain practically unchanged.

My guess is that the air in the atmosphere would be denser. The sky might be darker and less light would make it to the earth which would cause changes in the climate. The ratio of nitogen and oxygen would remain the same, but the amount of N and O in a cubic foot of air would increase at sea level.

A book I read a few months ago suggested that there are 6 constants in our universe that have to have values very close to the ones they have for our universe to "work" or "go round". The force of gravity is one of these special constants. An increase of 50%, probably puts it outside the acceptable range to "work", if you leave the other constants the same.

More interestingly, he proposes that it may be possible to give these constants entirely different sets of values and have entirely different universes.

It is possible that two light gases, hydrogen and helium, which if released now, escape into space would be held. Not necessarily a good thing!
