Edgar Allan Poe was not writing about murders like they did not exist in his time period - but were there alot of murders. Crime rates in Baltimore were no higher or lower than most major eastern city's of its time. Sorry I don't have a link to compare Baltimore and other eastern cities like New York City, Philidelphia, and Boston (for example) but Baltimore was a large thriving eastern city with a large growing population that consisted in part with a large immigrant population that had a crime rate in line with those other cities I mentioned. If you think that means they had a high crime rate - then they do.

Yeah there had to be a lot of murders back then. Some people embraced death because of depression. Others were hanged in the streets for crimes they often did not commit. It was a very unfair time.

It horrifies me how abusive and insensitive some adult males could be. a woman could be married to a monster and not additionally be attentive to it. almost extensive-unfold you notice on the information the place a so stated as religious committed family contributors guy has been charged with molesting a baby or finding out on up a prostitute. Why can't adult males be happy with what they have at homestead, that's something i visit not at all understand some guy. i even have self assurance that each and one and all adult males have that evil interior them, to do harm to a girl sexually. maximum adult males won't act on it purely using repercussions.
