other than an acient book that has NO relavance to modern day, that was written by the feable and highly influenced hands of MEN? A book that encouraged slavery, rape, incest, sale of your own offspring and murder?

They insist that being gay isn't natural, then procede to attempt Strawman arguments?
They demand that gay marriage shouldn't be allowed, but use a slippery slop argument?

I don't get it.
They demand proof from US, but can't come up with any solid proof of their own.

God is a comedian, playing to an audience too afraid to laugh.
Voltaire

I've been to church many times and I've yet to hear God say anything. I've seen a simple man push his agenda and try to tell me and ever sucker in that pew how he thinks God feels. I've heard some simple man tell us how we are superior in the eyes of God just for "loving" him. I've seen this all masked by the ability to judge everyone. But I've never heard Gods voice. Instead I've seen judgement, lies, fraud, deception all in the name of God in the so called house of God.

The world is a loveless enough place as it is and filled with so many worse things than mere homosexuality. So long as one's actions do not violate the will of another, perhaps we'd best allow others to find what love they can, and reserve our judgements for things better deserving of our hatred.

When a large segment of our population votes for legislation that bars gays from marrying or votes to allow discrimination against gays, they are not rejecting “what I do,” they are rejecting me, as a person, and telling me I am not equal to them. They are rejecting me, a taxpayer who does not enjoy the same tax benefits or property succession rights, yet helps support the myriad of welfare programs that benefit those left in poverty because of heterosexual divorce and unchecked heterosexual breeding. They are rejecting me, the human being, by denying me the opportunity to create a legal and protected relationship with a lifemate of my choice.

If you’re using this bizarre description of the Bible to demonstrate to homophobic Christians just how badly something can be mischaracterized through ignorance, I must say Well Done!

I think many homophobic Christians are that way simply because they have never taken the opportunity to get to know anybody who is gay. All they know of being gay is what some preacher told them, probably using the most disgusting examples he could find.

People mischaracterize the Bible in exactly the same way to fit an agenda.

I think there would be a great deal more tolerance all around if people would learn for themselves, instead of believing what somebody is telling them to fit an agenda.

just_ine_credible,
That's why I don't like the Christian comments that sometimes show up here in this section most of the time. I do not attempt to mix faith in Christ with the judgements of sin upon others in this way.

The book I think that you are referring to is the Bible, which for you obviously has no relevance to you, but to mix the idea that the thought and the ways of those ancient times were anything like the way we think today is erroneous. Of those times, when compared to our own, the mindframe, the basis for believing, the lifestyle, is so far apart.

There was slavery back then. There wasn't a common thought of an Emancipation Proclamation, though I am sure that some though that way, it wasn't a common thought. Life was cheaper to them in many ways. Back then, generals in armies would make decisions to kill on the basis of religion, whereas these days we have rights governing our own faith, whatever our faith might be.

Those that attempt to use the Old Testament as a basis of not allowing Gay marriage, in my opinion, are being wrong in their application of what the Bible says, because we are all exposed to sin in on form or another if we are truly Christian. Because the Law of Moses was placed upon those that sought to keep it, to reveal their inability to keep it. Driving men into the repentance to God that is the state of mind that is necessary to accept Christ.

So those that you find judging you forget that. They think that they have "Arrived" to a point of sinlessness from which they stand, though erroneously, as if they could judge others on their life, rather than simply bringing the Gospel.

So I apologize to you, for the actions of my bretheren, and I do look for their posts in this section, so that I can take them to task for this very thing.

Peace to you.

Because they are neurotic in that they want to believe that they are doing the right thing (even though they know that intolerance and bigotry is wrong). You have likely noticed that they try to excuse the biblical writings about slavery, rape, sale of your own offspring and murder -- with excuses selective bible verses that really amount to a pile of nothing. Or, when things are exposed in their own lives, they try to cover things up by pointing to the "sins" of others. It's very much a case of "do as I say, not as I do" in many cases.

Some people choose to keep their heads buried in the sand. So, as far as them offering "proof", they will do anything to try to discredit others -- even though there is NO proof of their feeble words -- apart from the proof that they are intolerant bigots.

I've decided the best way to handle these people is just to ignore them. You're not going to say anything to change their minds, and they're not going to change you, so what's the point? It's a waste of an exchange. Sad, but true. I'd also say that the majority come here with the intention of bringing us down so that they feel better about themselves. So your best bet: report, and ignore.

I made the mistake of allowing myself to get caught up in it, and referred to the homophobes as "idiots" out of anger. I received a warning for that. So we have to be careful with our responses, if we choose to respond at all. Don't let them bait us.

I welcome the straight people who are respectful and have legitimate questions. I'm happy to answer those.

SO TRUE! but then you must remember, faith and religion are exclusive. Most of these people are religious but really don't have any faith, if they did, they would be Christ like instead of Nazi like. Religion truly is the opiate of the masses and like sheep they just follow a comfortable, non-threatening (at least to them) ideology which allows them to be "phobes" and even grants tacit approval for their hatred, in direct conflict with what Jesus REALLY stands for.

It's because they don't have any proof.
"it's against the Bible."
The Bible is YOUR belief so don't YOU do it, it's not relevant to me at all nor can it be forced into my life against my will according to the First Amendment.
"It's unnatural."
First, it has been shown to exist in nature numerous times, second, Inoculations against disease are given to people who have no "natural" immunity to them, should you stop those as well?
"you can't make babies that way"
Is the only reason you have sex to make babies? Do the laws limit marriage and relationships/legal rights because of infertility? No? Then your argument has no merit.

They don't have any claim that I can't counter.

The answers to your questions are not going to be as accurate as they would if you asked this question in a general section in which heterosexuals could offer you more logical proof. Most of the heterosexuals in this section are more with the religious segment of the argument so you are looking for an answer in the wrong place.

that's just it (I think you answered your own question here)...these people have no proof so they have to rely on an ancient book that is ridiculously contradictory and irrelevant in modern society....they have nothing else to back them up...it's really kind of sad that these people can't even think for themselves but run off to the index of this book to find proof..even though the index doesn't make sense and gives such contradictory and stupid information.....anyway all of us gay people know the truth...they can't seem to even guess it.

I agree with Bythesea's comment of ignoring them, if i could have my say in here about these superficial bible bashers i would be booted off for life by Yahoo!!. Yes its hard not to get caught up in it, i swear if one of those people were in front of me preaching their crap i would find it extremely hard to refrain myself from choking the living *#*# out of them just for breathing. We have nothing to prove to them, we are who we are, we should all stand up and be PROUD. They call themselves christians, there is nothing christian about them, hey!! they had to be born again, abviously didnt get it right the first time. Re born again christians, yeah!!! WHATEVER..at least we got it right first time around..

They fear us, thats enough for me
