No I don't find it disgusting, there's plenty of real issues in this world to be disgusted about, and people entertaining people is always a good thing I reckon. I find it strange that you feel so moved, are you a friend of Steve Irwin's? If so, tell me what he himself would have thought about it, would he be offended. Part of being a celebrity and all the things that goes with it, is the fact that there is a f*cking good chance that people are going to take the p*ss, and have a laugh at your expense. I'd be honoured if South Park did a sketch about me (unlikely as it is) even if I had died. Look at it as a tribute to him, rather than an insult. I appreciate that you may not be able to open your mind that far, but give it a go, you'll be happier! Getting all worked up like that over things that really don't matter, you'll get your blood pressure going and all sorts.

South Park have always courted controversy in what they do, what they say and who they have in their shows as 'guest celebrities'.
However, I would doubt that Steve Irwins family would be South Park watchers....i don't know them, but they dont strike me as fans. Equally, if stuff like South Park offends people, then please dont watch. Simple self censorship works wonders.
Lets not forget that Steve Irwin was a great man, but he also had a great sense of humour and I'm sure if he could be contacted today to ask what he thought, his response would be for them to go with it.
The reality of the situation is that he was killed by a barb from a stingray, so they are not sensationalising his death. If he had died of natural causes and the south park guys had portrayed him with a stingray sticking out of this chest and making-up the cause of death then that is another thing.
Steve's family are still grieving for him, and rightly so, but a bit of levity in any situation is good for the heart. They know what a great man he was and what a kind man he was, and South Park are not doing anything to counter that view of him.

I think he would be very proud to have made it into South Park .
If you are famous almost immediately the jokes appear look at Diana she was not even buried when the first one got aired over the Internet.
Also why is it that we feel it is not correct to have humour once someone dies, sorry I am playing the devils advocate and do not mean to show no disrespect or cause bad feeling.
If you think back to Steve Irwin's sense of humour he enjoyed a laugh lead a good live but knew the risks.

The Steve Irwin part lasted about 20 seconds, so, while it was disgusting, it was only a small part of a pretty good episode of South Park. It wasn't nearly as terrible as the (now completely banned) episode with the bleeding Virgin Mary.

South Park, in my view, has always been a poorly produced show. I can understand (although not agree) that some imbecile on a school work-placement may have come up with the idea of mocking Steve Irwin's death. But for the Producers to even think about giving it the OK seems immature, at best, to me. Satire and piss-taking is all well and good within reason. For an influential show to such a despicable level of behaviour only goes to confirm the argument for the lack of social understanding we have today.

a bit too early with the jokes...but it's south park. and usually most celebs like being mocked on that show and they feel like it's an honor. other than barbara streisand and the whole jlo/ben afflack thingy...they were the only ones that got truely mad. and of course tom cruise...but that's just tom cruise being an idiot. but you know, when will the world be ready to accept steve irwin's death? south park is just making the first step.

No. I do not take anything South Park does seriously. Right-wingers might see it as a propaganda tool, but really South Park is making fun of them. Everyone I know did not like Steve Irwin anyway, he pepetuated the Australian stereotype, and made everyone in the world think Australians are all like him.

Not really. They've made fun of far "better" men then Steve Irwin and it's never bothered me. Wasn't the Dali Lama in hell too? In that episode?

south park has always made offencive jokes be that insulting celebs, countries, religions or the recently deceased. I'm not surprised they have chosen to do this. although some things on the show can be funny others are really, really offencive.

Not really. South Park has always been an Equal Opportunity Offender. No subject is safe from a show that would comment on Scientology & have Jesus fight the devil in a boxing ring.
What I find disgusting is that his family is trying to make money off his death by promoting his (very YOUNG) daughter doing a similar show.
