I think that it's very silly. I have a friend who was born on the same day as me and yet we are complete opposites; we have no similarites. According to astrology, we should share many characterisitics. Why is it that people take this stuff so seriously?

Because astrology is real. Just because you and your friend where born on the same day doesn't mean you guys will act the same completely. Either your on one end of the sign or dead on. I also have a co-worker that is born on the same day as me and we are opposite but we do have the same characteristics. Take another look at how well you and your friend get along.....you guys do act the same you just don't realize it. You might have different views on stuff but in all the same. Keep your eyes open this time.........= )

First of all...don't knock something until you really truly know what it is about. sounds to me like you've never read a book about astrology or seriously looked deeper into it.
Two people that have the same signs will not be the same way--any astrologer will tell you that. But they will share the same characteristics and have a lot of the same traits (I dare you to read more about it and then say it's silly).
I never knew anything about my sign until I read more into it, and surprisingly enough I was amazed at how accurate it really was...and you'll notice they don't generalize..because each sign has different characteristics, and only one sign has most of them (Pisces). So I challenge you to look more into it. If you dont feel like doing so I would ask that you not try to change other peoples opinioins on something without having more information.

When I went to the drugstore to stock up on sweets (Gummi Bears and Candy Corn) the lady that was at the cashier asked me how I kept my skin so flawless with all these sweets. I thought it was the nicest thing because I've always been self conscious about my skin. I've never had a real problem with acne or anything like that but I've never really liked the tone of it or the blotchiness. I had just started using St. Ives Apricot Scrub too and after that lovely compliment you better believe I stocked up on it =) It's made my skin glow!

I also wonder why it's gained such a strong foothold in popular culture. Worth looking into. Frankly the group of characteristics assigned to each sign are so general as to apply to anyone, but astrologers would say one would have to look at an individuals entire "chart", which is made up of different signs and planetary aspects. Well, I'm off to google-up some answers.

I don't see why people take this stuff so seriously either because people bithday signs does not make a person what they are. It's just stupid how everyone takes things like zodiac signs so seriously instead of paying attention to whats going on in this world, now that's what should be taken seriously.

Twins that have have the same family may be sort of simular because they grow up together. Male-female fraternal twins seems the least likely.
In the big citiy hospitals there are sometime births very close together in the same place. These "time twins" (or more) should be very similar but are not. Separate families have too many variables for this to work.

most of the characteristics, portrayed to friends is that of the ascendent and the houses, which changes every 2 hours. just because you were born on the same day, can show different set of houses and a different ascendent.
i know a few people who share the same birthday as me as well (day and year), and i noticed the same thing. one of them is alot more outgoing then me, and her ascendent is in gemini bringing her mercury in the 3rd house. making her alot more talkative and outgoing, while my ascendent is in the exact opposite brining saturn to conjunct my ascendent, in saggitarius. so just the birth time could make all the difference in the world on personality.

i take it so seriously cause some of the stuff can really mean something to people. i know some people may think that it is just something stupid but each thing actually does say something!!
