Seven years from now, every single cell in your body will supposedly be new - there will be no part of your physical body as it is today left in you. Cells have a finite lifetime, you see, and it is said that the longest any single cell can possibly live is seven years.
That has given rise to the theory of the seven year "itch".
It's when, after seven years from the start of a relationship, you have completed the equivalent of an entire metamorphic cycle and are so "new" that you begin to look around for a new mate, and a new life...

I've heard of the 7 year ITCH. That is when a man has been married for 7 years and starts feeling trapped. He might then hit on his secretary, start hanging out in bars, etc. There was a movie starring Marilyn Monroe about this. Rent it. It is cute.

Teleologically, it is when men have a tendency to leave a family as children age 6 and beyond don't require so much parental input, and are more self-sufficient. So he goes off to start another family, again leaving when the youngest is about six.
