If someone makes a pun or a joke on 'The Great Train Robbery' - say, 'The Great Rain Bloggery' - is it going to make Americans laugh?

No. A joke or a pun in reference to Bruce Reynolds,Buster Edwards, Ronald Biggs and Company would not make the Americans laugh. They would just shrug there shoulders and say What? They may make reference to the Buster Keaton movie of the same name from the silent movie era. But getting a joke or pun about the 2.3 million pounds stolen from a Royal Mail Train on August 8th, 1963 in Buckinghamshire England. I would say would be missed on them.

No. Few in the US have heard of this, and anyway, The Great Train Robbery was in Europe.
