You seem very motivated. I love my esthetician,i would die without her. If you want to get into like doin chemical peels, and plastic surgery that would be great for you. YOu have all this experience and that can carry with you through a medical career. You should pursue expanding what you do now. If you want to help people why not. People will always need some help with their skin so its a great career. Going on to a medical career is not walking away from your need to help people. The medical field is enormous. My husband is a orthopedic surgeon and he is in high demand. Hes now 34 and he has a great practice, but it has taken him a while to get where he is ,but he is very happy and has no regrets. Don't follow your dreams sweetie chase them, life is too short.

It sounds like you like what you are doing, but not where you are doing it at. The salon you work for doesn't allow you the wide array of options you were hoping for. So why not try another salon where you would be able to do more things than just "clean people and rub on them?" There are many places that would allow you to do more things, like body wraps, waxing more often, and full facials. Start calling other salons in your area to see who is hiring, and with your experience, you should be able to find a place that would offer a wider variety of services that you could preform as part of your job. That way you don't have to go back to school to learn a new career, and you would get the chance to do more to make a difference.
In some places, you could even work with dermatologists to include even more services, like laser hair removal and chemical peels. Again, you would have to call around to see who's hiring, and you wouldn't have to completely change careers. Whatever they needed you to learn, they would probably be willing to train since you do have on the job experience and training already.
Start with hitting the yellow pages for places in your area. Make all the phone calls you can, and drop off resumes as often as possible. Even if they aren't hiring today, they might be in a few weeks.

Not necessarily....working in the medical field, doesn't mean you help people more or less. Help is help. If you want to change what you do, then why not do something different. Like massage and wax...I don't sounds silly, but people will pay for convenience. And if you're good at what you do, you'll make bank. Good Luck!

If you are not happy in your current position then you really should move on. Life is too short to be hating the thing that you have to do for the majority of your waking life.
Take the bull by the horns and just go and get a new job. You will feel so much better for it.
