Which has less risk?
Just the other day on the news a lady was given an overdose with her Epidural now she's paralyzed.
I plan on going natural but if I can't take the pain I would like to know what's a better option.

My brother in law had surgery and something went wrong with his Epideral too and he now has no feeling in his legs from his hips down. This is very rare, but it can happen. That happened over 6 years ago and he is slowly gaining some feeling back, but slow. I had a Spinal with my csection with no complications. I think there is a certain risk in either. If you can go all natural that would be great, but i don't think I would wory about it too much. You will drive yourself nuts!! Most doctors are careful and know what they are doing. I personally liked the Spinal block because it takes so much longer to wear off. I didn't like not being able to feel my legs though. That was kinda weird, but it does wear off. I wish you the best on whatever you decide. I wish you the best of the birth of your baby.

I can only speak for an Epidural because I have had one and since I did not have a Spinal I can not compare the two.
If the Epidural is done properly by an Anesthesiologist, you should have no problems.
Both have risks.
I havent heard of anyone getting overdosed with and Epi, though it may be possible. Reason for this is because the Epidural Medication amount is controlled by a machine that will allow you to push that button to get another dose a certain amount of times.
You can push the button 20x but will not get 20 doses of the medication.
I enjoyed my Epi, though I wanted to go natural - that wasn't possible - especially since I was given pitocin which brings on contractions much harder and more painful.

Good Luck to you in whatever you decide to do. ;)

Epidural analgesia is used for hard work. It is the software of cure to the epidural area (external the coverings across the spinal twine) to shrink ache sensation from contactions. We use a blend of numbing treatment and ache treatment. Side results can comprise scale back blood strain within the mother and lowered beat-to-beat variability within the fetal middle tracing. Women additionally lose the feeling of desiring to urinate, and traditionally want a catheter to empty the bladder. Epidural analgesia prolongs the moment (pushing) level of work a bit of bit (I consider by way of an ordinary of 20 mins) One need to now not confuse correlation with causation in one of the most dangers you acknowledged above. Many occasions, females with irregular labors or shows can have extra painful or lengthy labors and for this reason be much more likely to prefer an epidural. Epidurals don't intent fetal misery or malposition. There could also be a correlation with instrumented supply, nonetheless, it can be that the obstetrician is much more likely to prefer making use of forceps if the parturient has an epidural in location ("she's already numb, why now not?") Spinals are cure located inside the sac of fluid that's beneath wherein the spinal twine ends. We do the ones regularly for C-sections, and oftentimes use ache cure spinally for hard work. We don't placed catheters intrathecally like we do epidurally, so repeated doses require a brand new method. There is a mixed spinal-epidural process that's oftentimes used in order that while the spinal wears off, the epidural may also be initiated.

If the epidural is done properly by a registered anaesthesist
there is very little risk at all.
There is always risk with any medical procedure,so be sure to find a professional and find out about this persons history and be assured you are in safe hands before consenting to any medical procedure.
