I just got a new hole yesterday, and my piercer gave me sea salt and told me to use that twice a day for about 2 weeks. I don't feel confident enough that the sea salt will keep it clean, so are there any other proven ways that will DEFINATELY kill anything that could find its way into my piercing?

they say not to do this but I used rubbing alcohol. I had to pierce mine twice b/c the first time I used what the piercer said (and well it got infected), the second time around everything healed quickly.

When I had mine done back in 2000, I was told to use anti-bacterial soap for a few weeks (I can't remember exactly how long, now). So I got a pump bottle of Dial to keep by the tub and used that daily. But nobody said anything about sea salt.

Use Campho Phenique!! This also works on infected or irritated ear piercings and fingers, toes, cold sores. I swear by it! And if it does get into your piercing it is ok and will actually help heal it faster!

whatever you do DONT use hydrogen peroxide.. it will make it scabby... use dial antibacterial soap to keep it clean and go buy bactine spray and just do two or three sprays honestly like 8-12 times a day.

Hydrogene peroxide and antibiotic oinment.
And be really careful, you can be disfigured easily. I had a friend do it, get infected and she has nasty scar. I will NEVER get mine done.
