Of course the Krays and Richardsons were real mobsters, I'm not denying that- but were they an anomaly? It seems now whenever organised crime is mentioned these days in regard to the Smoke it's either high-profile, anonymous traders fiddling the accounts or roving gangs of eastern-european (usually illegal) immigrants ferrying their extended family across the channel.

So are there any London born-and-bread mobsters left who still hold sway in the old neighbourhoods? It's been so long since I last saw a group of sharply-dressed blokes striding through Bethnal Green in the early hours, sawn-offs cunningly hidden under their camel hair overcoats, I'm beginning to wonder if they were ever real...or has Guy sodding Ritchie robbed us of our dignity?

yes, they're still there..they just attract less publicity these days...

our homegrown crims are gentlement rogues... believe it or not, we do have a code of conduct... foreign johnny has a different outlook..to him life is worthless. he has no morals, and no sense of whats right or wrong...

professional crims don't interfere with kids, they dont beat old ladies for their pension, and they dont take any sh it off anyone... and all ritchie does is glamourise it... its good for a laugh...but lacks credibility and reality...
