Trick or treating is an old term. It means that is you do not give me a treat I will pull a trick on you. It originally had a darker meaning in that spirits who returned to the earth needed to be bribed to leave the living alone. Food was placed on doorsteps as protection against spirits. Today it is a mild extorsion.

The Devils night! Reason: They give kids candy that will not only upset their stomach, but rotten their teeth. They scare the mess out of them with the costumes, and It tradition is base on celebrating evil spirits. Oh, I just read what you asked...It it October the??? I don't know when it is! I don't think I was any help to you after all.
