You lower the mattress when the baby is able to lift up on his/her arms & legs, which is before the baby starts crawling, sitting and pulling up.

When they start to pull themselves up. This will keep them from pulling themselves up by the railing and leaning over the rails.

If you feel unsure then you can lower it at any time. This way you will be safe than sorry.

All of the above is a good reason, before you know it they go from sitting to standing and if you have a little acrobat they pull themselves right out.

BEFORE the age they can start to climb or crawl. Otherwise if you wait till they are able to do it....you never know the first time they do may be when they are in their crib.

When they start pulling themselves up. Because you don't want it falling out of the crib and getting hurt.

when they start to pull up- to prevent them from falling over the side; once they are able to climb put them in a youth/toddler bed or just put the crib mattress on the floor, anything to prevent a fall

When the baby is getting active. When they start to roll around and sit up. Then you should lower it.

Hello,

When my twins began pulling up is when I lowered their mattresses. Some babies have been known to jump out and break their collarbones because the mattresses were too high.

Hope this helps you.......................... :-)
