To some extent I agree with you. But there is another side of the story.
Ask ten people around you this question :
What percentage of people do you think you meet are idiots or stupid or not to your level of knowledge.
I have done that with adults - I teach english and I use this question as a provocative motivation to speak.
Everybody says 90%.
Where are really the sensible persons?

Actually, it is getting better then it was, there are already a lot of idiots on here and there will be more.
I just hope, the numbers are not representative of the general population. That would be scary.
Some of the questions amaze me: I take a shower and my skin gets red...is the water too hot? Can I live by eating only bananas? What should I wear to school on Monday? And the ever popular--How many licks to get to the center of a tootsie pop? The do my homework requests really bother me....how will these kids possibly learn if someone does their homework? And the constant could I be pregnant questions???? Geez!
I wish we could block certain id's and I think there should be an abuse category for blatantly lying! I have looked at other questions asked and the profiles of many users....the profile will say I am 15 male, a question will then be asked by a 'mother whose stepson wants to have sex with her' and then asking questions about having unprotected sex with my 30 year old married boyfriend 3 times a day for 3 weeks and could I be pregnant, then they are a 15 year old girl, whose Mom is an alcoholic and Dad beats her and older brother has sex with her and she had run away with her 5 younger siblings and one can't breathe cause he has astha....you tell people the person is lying and they should stop doing that and get a real life and you get thumbs down and are written up for abuse for not answering the question.

This is a realistic possibility therefore let us look into the matter properly and logically. The one thing that we must take into account is that where people can come and there people can also go. And where all can come and all can go the question rises – who would like to stay, and who would simply go? That if the worthy will come they will stay. They will stay not merely for the fun of the thing but for some genuine purposes of enhancement and enrichment of their selves. But on the other hand, the idiot once here can find themselves many better places somewhere allowing them their activities of fun and frolic with value added appreciation for free.
The result therefore will be that we will have a fine accumulation of gargantuan mind from round the world, all committed, lasting and getting better together all the time - this where I want to be, if I am one of the worthy that is. And then, an occasional visit by some lonesome unworthy and unclean would not wax us so much. But in the mean time, all we should do is relax, rest assured and do our best, as we always like to do. I hope you will agree?

Wibble, wibble.............................yes you're right !
Sad fact of life I'm afraid that there are 9 cretins for every one well-balanced chap or chappess.
I used to belong to a cricket chat room that eventually had to be shutdown because it turned into a raging Islam v Christianity forum and actually turned quite nasty at some stages.
Now, call me old-fashioned, but I do like to have a rational discussion from time to time, without having some moron invade my webspace.
as to what we do - we ignore them.................its only infantile attention seeking after all.

As long as everyone asks relevant (non-emotionally fueled) questions and people answer them with reason and honesty then you naturally alienate and repel 95% of the worlds population.

I just try to bludgeon them to death with a spork filled of Spam, and then, should that not be effective enough, I then sic the Tonberrys on them. There's nothing like hearing the blinks of confusion amidst the *Doink!*s.

I said this in another answer,but.....
Yahoo is a free service, and there is little you can do to change things....
Besides, all you must do is ignore them. After all, this world has an extremely large diversity: There will always be people more and less intelligent than others....

HE WHO KNOWS
THAT HE KNOWS,
IS A GENIUS
HE WHO KNOWS
THAT HE DOES NOT KNOW,
IS SMART
HE WHO DOES NOT KNOW
THAT HE KNOWS,
IS A FOOL INDEED
HE WHO DOES NOT KNOW
THAT HE DOES NOT KNOW,
IS A BLOODY “NINGCOMPOOP”
There are too many poops out there
but alas, what can we do about that
There are days that I feel like one myself
Trying to give a piece of my mind when my blood boils
Answering a question like:-
"I stole some killar chemical
Do you agree that I mix it in some canteen's soup"
