Marko F - Here is exactly what you said (verbatim): "..... But if I were destined to spend 20 years on a deserted island with a single CD player (assuming I had an endless supply of electricity or batteries) and only 10 CDs I could bring along, I think I could fairly easily narrow the field of possibilities." ….. In other words, and if I am NOT mistaken you are, in fact, talking about 1 CD "player" and 10 "CD's" and NOT 10 soundtracks (and don’t you be claiming that was a typo either lol). Now assuming each CD could roughly accommodate 20 tracks or songs (and you know that if you were to be marooned on a deserted island you would wanna fill each one to the rim) that would equate to a total of about 200 songs!!! Which in turn basically means, I still owe you about 130 songs on my list; so who's greedy, NOW?! LOL :-)

Symphony No. 9 - Beethoven

Rule of thumb: When making a selection from a list of greater than 25 items always choose the last.

Admonition: I said 10 musical selections on a desert island not 70 you glutton!

Answer to question (sort of): What other musical composition of the last 2000 years speaks so directly and piercingly to the human spirit? When I needed most to be reminded of the human potential for true brotherhood, joy and fellowship in joy this symphony with its message of universal affirmation has always beckoned and always will.

wow, what a list! I think "Purple Rain " probably has the most memories for me from that list. I was in high school and had a mad crush on a guy who had a band...well he played a gig for the school (can't remember y) but when he sang that song I about melted and fell in more "mad crush" with him! I'm talking head over heels for this guy and he didn't know I existed! (he was a year ahead) well, my yearbook got passed around at the end of the year signing deal and he signed my book!
I always think about highschool and good Ol what's his Face when ever I hear that song. I remember holding a lighter up and just almost drooling over the guy!
