This is not a question that you should post on "answer". The reason is that this type of problem is caused either by you or your "ISP". If you installed the modem yourself and did not follow the instructions correct on the disk, then you will have this type of problem. Plus if you installed the modem yourself, you should always coordinate the installation at the same time with your "ISP".
If your "ISP, installed the modem for you, or even if they did not install for you, you still need to call your "ISP", up and explain the problem to them. They also have to perform some software programs on their end with your telephone # that the modem is connected, correct with your "ISP".
Here is a good anology. Every second Tuesday of each month Microsoft comes out with their critical updates. On the second Tuesday of this month there were six critical updates. I have my pc set for automatic updates. When I saw the icon in the tray that the updates were being download I waited until they were finished. Then because I was curious, I opend the icon to watch and see what all the six critical updates were.
After the installation was installed without any problems according to Microsoft my ADSL, was knocked off my line.
This never happened before with any critical updates. So I telephoned my ISP, and the tech., asked me for my telephone # and my name. I explained to him what had just happened. He told me to hold on for a few minutes. (As to what he did I had no idea). When he came back on the telephone he told me to, "pull the ADSL cable cord from the processor and plug it back in".
Then turn on your pc and log back in. The problem was resolved as the red light on my ADSL, turned green, (which means I am ctc. to my ISP.
Problem resolved.
