I often feel like a little twinge on the left side only, and often in the evening when I am relaxing and not doing any thing. It started 10 days ago, all though this is my 3'rd pregnancy this is the first time I felt anything this early, the 2 previous I felt the baby move around 16-17 weeks.
ps. any ideas on how to know the babys sex. I know that a healthy baby is all that matters, but after 2 boys deep down in my heart I would love a little girl. but if it's a boy that would be kind of nice too, to have 3 boys, at least I have a bit of experience now.

it is possible but unlikely the feelings may be just your body moving with the baby moving inside and the only way to really know the baby's sex is the 20 week scan

Although it's normally 16 weeks that you start to feel them move- women who have already had babies can feel the movements earlier because they know what they are. It's like a lovely little fluttery feeling or sometimes bubbles as the other person said. But, sometimes this can just be wind which is a tad dissapointing lol!
You can normally ask at your 20 week scan if they can see where it's a girl or a boy. Another so called method is to have a crystal balance over your bump and depending on which way it spins will tell you if it's a girl or a boy. I did also read something about a chinese prediction thing, which said depending on the day you conceive it will tell you whether it's a boy or girl. It's a 50/50 chance- but they said I'd have a boy and they were wrong, t'was a lovely little girl.
Good luck!

You could be further on than you think if you haven't already had your scan. I felt my third move at 14 weeks when I lay on my stomach. I just assumed I was having another girl it was only when I was hooked up to a monitor while being induced that I heard a difference between my son's heartbeat and the other woman who was in getting induced - she had galloping horses and I had a train. Later that night we proved that old wives tale right - she had a girl and I had a boy. So listen hard when they are checking the heart rate apparently you only start to hear a difference around 26 weeks.
Other thing is watch monitor real close during a scan. I saw that my youngest daughter was a girl during my scan but I was 15 weeks by the time I got called in for one - it was just sheer luck she was lying the right way.

Yes some people are more tuned into what is going on and are more sensitive I noticed the same fluttering at that stage and they keep getting stronger it is an amazing experience I kept a daily journal and sometimes further along it felt like the baby was turning over and then times when you could see a bump sticking out and if you put your hand on it it would move away and many times the baby had the hiccups mostly at night when I was trying to sleep LOL Have fun and enjoy this time .

this is my third time to and i know that it sounds strange but i think i can feel it sometimes too and i am only 8 weeks. I know that its probally just my uterus growning or what not but its nice to think it may be the baby. I know how you feel i have two boys and would like a little girl you never know but either way a healthy baby would be best. I think that all girls want a little girl someday i hope you get what you want. good luck.

well you can feel the baby move earlier in subsequent pregnancies, so its quite likely that you are feeling subtle movements. especially as its when you are sitting quietly.
I really dont think you can tell the sex of a baby except by scan. Good luck with your pregnancy. Hope you enjoy your special time.

Yes it is, but you would only feel a sensation like bubbles bursting inside your belly. I could just feel my baby move about then.
As to the sex it depends how near to ovulation you got pregnant. Male sperm have longer tails and are faster swimmer, but only live about 24 hours. Female sperm has a shorter tail, takes longer to swim up there but lives for about 48 hours! If you have a due date and can work out when you ovulated it may give you an idea.

yes that's most likely your baby moving. i felt mine move about that early and i'm also having a boy. i've heard from many other people that boys are more active than girls. i know mine is! he doesn't stop moving! even with me being almost 37 weeks, he still moves alot. well that's good that you are feeling your baby move that early because that means that it's probably gonna be strong and healthy. good luck!

Unlikely but possible, the baby is sooo small at 12 weeks. It is most likely gas. As for old wives tales, they are nothing but chance. On all my babies (3) they have been wrong, everything but the ultrasound
God bless you and your baby
