I dont know if you have ever had the joy of reading My Pet Goat, but it is a captivating and delightful book. He probably just wanted to see how it ended first.

You have to understand the sequence of events and then determine what actions would be appropriate.
Bush was doing what every president does... working with the future generations of the US. When he got the notification, the SS men there told him that a plane had hit the Twin Towers but they were uncertain as to accident or planned. At that point it would not have been necessary for him to respond as he knew all the defence mechanisms put in place would be activated if this was a planned attack. Therefore he continued what he was doing.
Once he was informed of the second plane and it was becoming apparent that this could be planned, he reduced his time and excused himself.
Staying calm and waiting for all the facts is just what you want a president to do in this situation.
Perhaps you would prefer him to jump up and go screaming out of the room? This question may sound absurd but it is along the same line of extremism of the question you posed.
Hope this helps your understanding.

He was calm because he is our leader. Do you want some lunatic firing nukes all over the place. The president is supposed to be representational to all Americans. He sat quietly and thought about the situation. I'm glad he was so calm. If you found out something horrible has just happened it is good not to freak out. The president is a good man. I don't think very many people could have done the job he has done. God says he puts men in power and he takes them out of power. Even the leaders I don't agree with are there but it's God's plan. I know I know, thumbs down. Think about it though.

I probably would acted the same.
Would you rather have him jump up and scare the kids?
Or do you expect him to push a button and make it all better?
He may be the chief executive but he is still a man.
What did you do when you found out? I didn't do much but watch the TV in amazed by devastation.

George Bush was calmly sitting with children before the US was being attacked. He had other errands, in another way I really don't know where he was when the US was attacked. The media says where he was, but the media can be wrong. So, I really don't know.

Hummm.........
A definate foul in the crap that the Liberals would have you believe. Could it be that he had no previous knowledge of the terrorist attacks?
The President reacted in a manner expected for the leader of our country. What did you expect him to do? Did you want him to panic and run around in front of the children screaming we have been attacked.
Get real!

I would like to think I would have done exactly that! What a great example he was to still remain committed to our children! Needless to say, those kids eventually found out about 9/11 and realized how calm and focused our president was during this dark event!

Because he wanted to see how the book ended. "My Pet Goat" is considered advanced reading for G.W. Think about it. Do you think he actually red the Patriot Act or Military Commissions Act before he signed them?

He wasn't calm...at all! When Andrew Card came into the classroom and told him what had happened his face turned beat red. I think he was very angry. I would have reacted the same way. Leaders have to remain calm at all times.
