Sick to death, as a matter of fact. From my congressional race alone I have received 2 dozen (and counting) attack ads against the challenger. Here's why:
Particularly in Senatorial and Congressional races, the party now in the majority (that is able to shove through and have placed into law pretty much whatever it wants to right now, since that party has all the votes and our President has never used a veto) is running scared that we will vote out enough of their people for them to lose that majority. This puts a group with tons of money to spend in a position to want to keep their incumbents wherever they can. The folks in the minority are working even more doggedly, because they have an agenda of their own.
The majority of the attack ads that you're seeing aren't being run by the candidates, but by political parties with an agenda. If you're a savvy consumer who reads labels, it should be a breeze for you to pay attention to who's paying for the mud-slinging, since the law requires that all ads clearly state their financial sponsors. Remember that if the sponsors of the ads mention "their" candidate in any way, it constitutes a donation to that candidate's campaign, and all kinds of limitations then face both the group and "their" candidate. There's no financial limit to what a group can spend expressing their opinion against someone, so that's the easy money to spend.
Having registered to vote as an Independent, I have a mailbox overflowing daily with these non-candidate-sponsored attack ads. I, too, am so very turned off by the attack ads that I'm planning to vote (in a couple of cases, where I think the candidates are equally qualified) for the one whose campaign seems to be the least riddled with attack ads. There is at least one from each party who will be getting my vote this way.
Remember that the motivation here is to get your vote, so a trend (and trends happen one person at a time) for voting against smear campaigning will really be the only way to stop it.
Ohio, for better or worse, has always been a bit of a swing state, and therefore pivotal to the national scene. While it makes our elections pretty racy and dramatic sometimes, at least we can take solace in the fact that our voices here as voters remain pretty loud.
Good luck voting this year. We have a lot to think about, and no matter how sour things become, I hope I can still remain grateful for a country where debate is always invited.

Ohio, as I'm sure you know by now, is a very politically corrupt state. There is a lot of money to be made in politics in Ohio and these jackyls will stop at nothing to get the choice jobs. This goes for Democrats and Republicans. There are very few politicians I will back (Steve LaTourette being the only real exception).
Do your homework. Research the candidates before you vote. But most importantly - VOTE! It's your right and your duty. Don't b i t c h about how this country is run if you don't vote!

Yes I am. It is getting really old hearing one grown person cutting down another. I feel that the only thing they should be allowed to advertise is the TRUTH but that seems to be to hard to do this day and age. If what was advertised was a truthful fact about another person and it will help our economy then I could understand but with so many lies you cannot tell who is lying or telling the truth.

I do live in Ohio and I am really tired of all the ads, I can't wait for the elections to be over. I don't think any of them do what they promise to do, I haven't seen it yet! I really hate the one about Bob SHAManski, irritates me!They remind me of little kids calling each other names.

It is horrible. I have sent emails to all the politicians who have websites, admonishing them for the attack ads. It reminds me of high school.
