I was in both cities about a month ago. Venice, by far, is more romantic!

i think Venice is far more romantic than Paris. Venice just seems so much more private and is unlike any other city in the world

Venice by far. We were there one summer, the sun was going down real late, it made the whole of the canals very romantic. It is slower than Paris so more romantic in that respect. Plenty of places to walk (without stepping on Paris doggie doo), no smell of urine (like Paris smells of), laid back, wonderful architecture, friendly people, plenty of places to get lost, both in time and around the canals.
I wish I could send you a photo of our time there - the picture speaks a thousand words.

Hello,
I'm French and I can say you that Paris is not at all a romantic city. So Venice is the more romantic city.

Venice stinks literally. in the summer the channels have rotten smell. In the winter OK but overprized, so maybe paris from those choices.
I would recommend some more romantic cities in Europe though: St Petersburg, Prague, Barcelona, Porto are topping the list.
