I'm sorry but that has to be one of the stupidest questions I have ever read!
Not all lesbians are butch. I knew quite a few gay and lesbian friends when I was growing up and not all gay men are femenine and not all lesbians are butch.
I have a job where I have to wear jeans/trousers and polo shirt, overalls etc. I am a marine engineer and becuase of the job I have a short hair cut. Bugger me I must be gay!!!!
Apart from the fact I have had two kids, been married twice and am defo for the "old Meat and two veg" because I have short hair and wear "man type clothes" I must be a closet lesbian. What a load of b*ll*cks!!!!!!
Why do people have to be so stereo-type and want to put people in little boxes so they comform.
Well, guess what I don't conform and never will, try and put me in a box if you can.

I think that the reason you believe that "almost all" lesbians dress like men is because those are the only women that you know are lesbians. Fact of the matter is, a lot of your very femenine aquaintences/co-workers/etc are probably lesbian or bi-sexual and you don't know it, because you wouldn't suspect it with their non-tomboy attire.
It's a matter of perception. Your statistial "proof" is skewed by your conclusion. It's circular logic- "Because they're dressed that way, they must be lesbians. Because they're lesbians is why they dress that way." The rest of the people didn't even enter the equation.

They don't always. In fact, they don't often. Look at professional women. Look at the L-Word. A contestant on America's Next Top Model came out, and there have been lesbian and bisexual models. Look at Portia de Rossi, Ellen DeGeneres' girlfriend--that look like a man or a tomboy to you?! I'm bi and very femme (I actually prefer skirts, and have always worn long hair with bangs); my wife is lesbian and has a deliberately scrambled gender presentation, but never leaves the house without red lipstick and Chanel No. 5. Look around!

You need to get out more. Not all lesbians dress like men. I have longish hair, i dont like dresses, i dont wear mens clothing but dont mind wearing lacey underwear, im comfortable in jeans and a t-shirt, im a semi-femmie. My parnter has real short hair and wears mens clothing, not only is she beautiful but looks great in a mans shirt and jeans, i could just..mmmmm....never mind. She also wears womens silk suits to work and she still looks great, yes you can tell she is a lesbian cuz of her butch looks, but i wouldnt have her any other way. Have you ever thought that some of us femmie lesbians are very attracted to the butch look!!
And as for you becoming a lesbian, do you think we all got up one morning and decided "i think i might just become a lesbian today, what the hell" You dont just become gay, you are born that way...and with todays society, i really dont think you could handle it. Do us all a favor and stay where you are...

You are generalising and stereotyping. Although, years ago lesbians did dress quite 'manly,' however, this was more a protest statement. In contemporary society where the issue of being gay is, overall, accepted; lesbians tend to dress in what they feel most comfortable in. Lesbians choice of dress is no different to heterosexuals. Like heterosexual women you will find some in dresses, skirts, jeans, etc. There are alot of straight women who dress like 'tomboys.' It simply isnt fair to push lesbians into this 'butch' category.

Not all lesbians dress like men. Some do. They are the ones that do have a more butch/masculine streak to which the more feminine types are often attracted.

Not all lesbians dress like men. But the ones that do probably have high levels of testosterone which is what probably makes them attracted to girls in the first place. Scientists say its all controled by chemicals anyway.

It comes down to this: if you are no longer trying to impress men why would you wear what only men like? Granted there are some women who are attracted to the high heels, too much makeup, and push-up bras - but more women are attracted to a woman who is just being herself. Most women know all the tricks and camouflage that straight women force themselves through, and are not going to talk to your breasts in the first place. Lesbians have shorn off the masculine ideals of beauty and we have created our own. I love a butch woman, my wife is one. She is tough and strong, she puts her arms around me and I feel safe. If you ask why am I not just with a man it's beacuse i'm not attracted to men, it's pretty plain and simple. However, my wife tells me i'm beautiful, in our realtionship i'm in the more traditional female role - but I would probably turn you off as well. My avatar is pretty accurate on my haircut - although it's bright red not pink, and I wear jeans and shirts. I am comfortable and my personality and smile can truly shine without having to worry about a run in my nylons. I never again have to face the torture of high heels, why would they turn my wife on knowing how much my feet are killing me?

Oh come on now, enough with this tired question.
Not all lesbians do!
Some straight women dress more masculine than "most" lesbians.
Just about EVERY woman wears slacks and/or jeans. THOSE were originally MENSWEAR!
Get over it.
I'm VERY feminine. But I don't date people who generalize, so that counts you out.
