I'm in my 20s, but I'm playing the part of a pensioner in a play. I tried drawing lines and wrinkles on my face with eyeliner pencil, but at first it looked stripey, then I blended it and just ended up looking dirty!
I don't want to buy a load of theatrical make-up just for a couple of performances, so can anyone tell me how to look convincingly older using the contents of the average make-up bag?
Also I've been told that my skin tone is too fresh, so what colour would make it look tired and dull?

In addition to what everyone else said here is how you draw your wrinkles. Take an eyeliner (grey, black, brown..any is fine-toy with it to see what looks best on you)

Make these faces then draw lines where your face wrinkles up..this is where you will probably wrinkle when you really do get old :(

1. Raise your eyebrows as high as you can
2. Squint your eyes
3. Scrunch your nose
4. make a kissy face

Thats pretty much it, you should have plenty of wrinkles from that.
Good Luck :)

Hiya!
Go for a very pale foundation, age makes skin pigmentation break down and become more translucent, use a white or grey eye pencil on eyebrows. Use grey or brown eyeshadow under your eyes for that tired look.
Use a brown eye pencil to follow the natural lines on your face when you scowl. You can also make you mouth take on the appearance of age by putting small lines around the outside of your lips. To keep your make up in place use a bit of talc patted on.

HAHA I myself have had to play a 75 year old in a play and again I must do it this year. This is what I did : first i had a black wig so i took some hairspray and some baby powder and made it look like a grey wig, next i caked on the orange make-up ( i am so fair skinned and i put on make-up that completely didn't match my skin tone), then i put on goobs of eye makeup ( black eyeliner very thick and messy, ugly eyeshadow) and the finishing touch that gorgeous (wink wink) bright red lipstck with a mauve lip pencil. And after that you add on the accesories, old lady pins and brooches and the clothes go to your local Good-Will and check out thier old lady selection, it is quite good. I really hope that this helps =) God Bless and good luck in your play!

Use a pale liquid foundation or powder, then add a few fine lines round your eyes and mouth, using an eyeliner closest to your skin town as possible, brown might work. Use a very red lipstick and apply it quite heavily and badly. Maybe add some clumpy mascara for the blind as bat effect. Hope this helps xxx.

the best stuff is grease..you get a grey coloured greasepaint and this dulls the skin and then a brown grease is used with a thin make up brush to draw lines in to your own natural lines so scrunch your face up,see where the lines are then paint on those areas blending in!!second option is mastix and apply around eye area or on wrinkles and this ages the skin or go full hog and use latex...im a make up artist..hope this helps..any other advice on make up just e mail me xx

Dark lines you create by using eyebrow pencil ,draw the lines where you want them,a sallow skin you get by putting on talk !
So you don't need to spend a lot of money and by the way practise a lot before your performance !

Look at how old people wear make-up.. they normally have really bright eyeshadow that is swept up towards their eyebrows, and have a brown/red/pink lipstick. You don't have to add lines and wrinkles but if you really want to go to a dressing up shop they normally have stick- on ones. Good Luck x

I wouldn't know how to look less fresh faced, maybe a couple of late nights? OR foundation blended with black mascara (mix it up in a container)to give it a grey tint!! I am in an am. dram. society and my friend has just played an old lady in our last play. She wore a white curly wig and it put YEARS on her!!!
