Sounds like a colicky baby to me!
My son was horribly colicky, & it seemed the only time he would stop crying was if i patted his butt & waled around with him...
Try a swing, he used to like that too!!
Good luck!

Definatly call the doctor, the only way babies can communicate with us is by crying, so there is obviously something bothering him. My son went through this, I listened to everyone else and just passed it off as gas, or colic, or teething, tried remedies for all of these, turns out he had an ear infection and was very uncomfortable. So even if it is only gas at least the doctor will put your mind at ease and give you some suggestions. But it may be something more serious so whats the harm in going to the doctor?

Any questions is best for your doctor if your not sure. I currently have a 5month old son. we would cry constantly. He had colic. we were using milk-based formual. The doctor did not want me to switch they wanted me to place gas drop inside every bottle we gave baby Timothy. He would still cry but not as bad. So we went ahead and but him on the soy formula and the crying stopped. Soy formula is not so hard on the stomach as the milk. Your baby could have an underline issue. If you are useing milk base formula you could use soy. Or if you are breast feeding it could be something you have eaten that does not agree with the child. I have tried the walking around for hours, bouncing ,swing, everything you can think of for a colic baby. Once we got him on soy he was better....

So I know whats that like..my daughter was like that when she was constipated! He or she may be having problems with passing a stool....unfortunately its not an easy process to help releive that either! Sometimes too much tylenol and the gas drops can actually do more damge if over used. Email me for a way to releive that from home. good luck

don't let anyone convine you that you have a colic baby. Make sure to research what Colic actually means. Sometimes babies cry when they are growing too fast. Sometimes they are cranky for days and then get over it. I would take the baby to the doctor to rule out ear infection or anything else. But, most likely she's just not feeling well.

If you don't think its anything serious try walking the baby and comforting him. Try turning on the water faucet and rocking him back and fourth by it, so he hears it. My children (when they were infants) were both immediately calmed by the running water. Also, maybe your formula is the problem. Try Alimentum. It saved my marriage...actually my son couldn't tolerate any other baby formula and he cried continuously for weeks until we finally tried Alimentum. It helped so much.
Honestly though I would just go to the doctor. They can help you so much better then any of us can. What can it hurt. Just take the little guy to the doctor. Even if it's just nothing, at least you know.
Good luck!

Does he have a fever? If so I would see your doctor about it. He is a little too young to be teething, although it isn't unheard that a 4 month old could be getting teeth. If either of my kids cried that long, I would take them to the doctor or even the e-room. My older daughter had injured her arm playing with her stuffed animals of all things, and she cried for about 2 hours and when I took her they found a hairline fracture. Always better to be safe than sorry.

Sounds like colic. Ask your doctor to be sure. If it is colic there's an old folk remedy that really works. I told my daughter-in-law about it (her baby had colic) and she thought I was crazy till she tried it and it worked. Turn on the vacuum cleaner. Something about the sound calms the colicy baby.

There is something wrong with the baby. You need to take the baby to the doctor just to make sure everything is fine. The baby probably has an ear ache.

Yah, sounds like Colic. Try warming a towel in the dryer. Fold it up and place it on your lap then lay baby on his tummy across your lap on the towel. It's a double-effect because many babies are soothed by the heat and they find it soothing to be placed face down across your lap as well.
