My stepdad has a Halloween birthday, he is turning 44- He has an auto tech shop and also does construction- he's a pretty cool guy. Men are so hard to shop for! I'm always perplexed on what to get him. What's do men really want for a gift? Help! Thanks!

How about spending time with him instead? Take him somewhere, like a car show perhaps or to a restaurant with a car theme. I guess it depends on how close you two are.

As far as gifts go I have one set rule. The gift has to be half what you like and half what he likes. If you buy him something solely on rather he'll like it, it won't mean as much and if it's solely what you like, he may not. If he collects glassware for example and you like dragons buy him glassware with dragons on it. Sorry for the lame example, but it's hard to put into words. I'm a guy after all, we don't open up :)

A ranch, a wrench and a wench. Just kidding. Sort of.

If you have younger siblings, buy 2 ticket passes for the local Superdupermultimegamanical Gigantorplex movie palace, make up a certificate that is redeemable for one evening of babysitting (by you, of course) and tell him to spend a grown up evening alone with your mother courtesy of you.

Get him a gift certificate to his favorite store and then he can buy whatever he likes.

Put the certificate in a gift bag and decorate it with some mylar balloons.
