The current Speaker of the House, Dennis Hastert has said, he will serve out his term. I've heard, Nancy Pelosi from California could become the next Speaker of the House. I think the Speaker of the House is base on; Which party has more members. Is this true? Thank you for your time.

Pretty much, you are right. The Speaker is elected by the members of the House, and since they almost always vote straight party for their respective leaders, the majority party in effect names the Speaker by nomination from their caucus.

Nancy Pelosi would become House Majority Leader not Speaker. They are different positions. The Democrats will pick someone less liberal as always.
