Passenger side is the right side.

When you are sitting in the drivers seat facing forward and the passengers seat is on your right, the drivers side is on the left. If the passenger seat is on the left, the drivers side is on the right.

when sitting in the driver seat looking forward out the windshield,left is the driver side, right the passenger.

The side would be taken as you sit in the car, so in America, the right side would be the passenger side.
