Even if you yourself would choose to go nude, can you really blame someone else if they insisted on wearing clothes?

My point is that Muslim women ought to be allowed to wear their head coverings and modest dress, even where modesty is not the norm.

I have lived in Germany. Yes it is completely legal to be nude at the swimming areas and other places. I did prefer to wear my suit as did plenty other Americans. Yes, I agree Muslim women should have that same right.

Were you to wear clothes where nudity is the norm. You draw attention to yourself. And the situation exists whether you like it or not. Whether or not you like it, when in Rome do as the Romans do. If you don't, whose fault is it if there are repercussions.

Take the opposite situation and put it into even a western country where clothes cover much less than in many muslim countries. It is offensive to go nude where covering of private parts is the norm.

In some Arab countries western dress is considered offensive. Today there was a Muslim cleric whose quote of an ancient cleric states that any woman who doesn't wear a veil is inviting rape.

Here's my problem with all this. Why is it only the westerners are demanded by muslims to be tolerant of others and yet muslims exibit so little tolerance themselves? Come out of the seventh century and we'll talk about it.

Muslim women aren't allowed to wear their head coverings and modest dress, even where modesty is not the norm?
Public nudity is considered not-the-norm?
Yahoo! Wouldn't let you?
Freewill is not a choice?

WOW!

People should be allowed to do what they want, when they want. And if they're beliefs dictate them doing something 'out of the norm' then they should still do it. Regardless! What you believe is what/who you are. Someone telling you that you ARE not, IS not.

Nudity, anywhere, anyway is the norm. We weren't born with coverings. Animals remain naked all their lives, for us to buy them, and own them, and take care of them (or not) however we choose. Like our parents, they chose to clothe us and take care of us (or not) however they chose.

Yahoo! should have allowed you to put your Question where ever the heck you wanted!

Would I choose to go naked? Heck yeah! Would I chose to wear clothes? Heck yeah! I'd do what I wanted. Not what you wanted. Would I criticize someone of their choice? Heck no!

I would still wear clothes, though not for religious reasons etc.

I feel comfortable in my clothes, and clothes maketh the man. I am slightly plump, ( Okay, I admit, I am as fat as a pig) and I try to wear clothes that make me look slimmer. Without clothes, ehm ehm, evryone would know whatI am... a Fat bashtard.

But seriously, about Muslim women, let them wear what they want. Its their life, their choices, right?

How tolerant are you if you are not tolerant of the intolerant? And, these muslim women are not even intolerant. Why not try minding your teenage daughter's wardrobe? She'll give you hell, literally. And you are asking totally unknown, adult women to give up wearing their choice in clothes.

All these politiciansseem like those monarchs who tortured Christian martyrs to death. If you are not like us, either ape us blindly, or leave your homes and return to poverty!!! O rather like the queen in Aloce's wonderland , " Off with their heads!"

Like the next thing you know, they will say that everyone is supposed to change into a bikini within 100 meters of a beach. And what is this fetish for seeing Muslim women's faces? Everyone has a face, some have more too!

This is so 1984!!!

thanks for u're question... but u have put it in a wrong way...

as a muslim, i must defend my beliefs (just as everybody else believes in their religion & defend it)...

u must have seen the way those hard headed blabber mouth people with long beards that say stuff in the name of islam (which is totally wrong & they got it so wrong), treat their women & comment on how other women dress...

believe me... the head covering is an islamic order... built on the confidence of the woman herself in it... & the way of dress works along with it... u tell me, it'll b quite strange & not natural 2 c a wonam woth a head covering & a low cut dress or a mini skirt (there would b sth wrong in the picture)!

&... if u haven't heard... there r alot of fashion houses in the islamic world that tend 2 the fashion of muslim woman in respect to the holy religion... such as a brand called "sajedah" which is highly famous in the reigon...

now u tell me... is it ok 4 a woman 2 b exhibiting herself with her body infront of others & then blaming them for sexual harrasment & comments & immaturity... the islamic way of dressing (or, better yet, the islamic respect in dressing) protects the woman from being seen as only an object of desire... but as a respectfle & wonderful creature...

also... as a man... i'm atrracted 2 the woman who plays her way right... playing hard 2 get & respecting herself in all ways... believe me, when it comes to marriage & love... real men seek that type... & the real muslim woman is 100% that

oh, not 2 forget... women in islam wear modest clothing in their every day life... you should come & c 4 ur self... & islam incurages the modesty in wear (even 4 men)!

they wear new fashion lines too... & respect the occasion (formal, party, outing... etc), but the show off ones are within the family & husband, & friends (female only, so that any lustful feeling won't develop into a sin that might end worse), & infront of her future groom when he asks 4 her hand from her parents (the formal proposal), & her wedding night (optional, but its her special night... u get the picture)...

as 4 the over reacting or the loosness in wear & additude... that returns to the way of the raising, & parental control...

so... no, u can't blame others if they insisted on wearing clothes... coz it return to their believes & respect of their own selfs!

i really advise u 2 read deeply (& more) about the islamic head covering... but make sure 2 check out the source of the book b4 reading, coz that makes a huge difference (both in thoughts & propaganda)...

hope i satisfied ur mind by this answer my dear... take care & goodluck in ur life! :)

Muslim women do, don't they. However, why not stay in your own country, if you are so different from the rest of the people in your new one? Why do they spead out to every civilized country in the world and then fight for their rights to be different? I am pretty sure the final goal for them is for every women to wear their head coverings and modest dresses...For me - you can wear whatever you want, as long as you don't impose your views on anybody else.

Nude is fine, clothing is fine, who cares. Myself, it would depend on the situation, I think for the beach nudity is fine, but for dining I don't think so, I would't want you to scratch your killytob and then pass me the potatoes. As for the Muslim women, they can wear anything they choose but they best not be complain when I walk into their store in my birthday suit to buy sunblock.

Naked is great !! Our minds are more powerful anyway. Point being, naked would get boring after a while if you were looking for pleasure. With me , it has always been what you can't see. The surprise. If all were naked it would be bland. So I wouldn't judge the person not naked, I would embrace them. As for the veil, being clothing or head wrap, I could care less. It is them. Whatever makes them comfortable. As long as they don't judge me for running around NAKED, I won't judge them for not.

I agree with your point. To answer your first question though, that would depend entirely on what the climate is like in that country. If it were terribly sunny, I would choose to wear clothes. I sunburn so easily.

Under the same stupid assumption any woman going to Saudi Arabia should be covered up head to toe. But they aren't. It has to do with the decency of respecting the custom of the others as long as they are not truly offensive.
