My husband and I just got married and yesterday we received a present of three books from a distant relative that look like they were bought from a used-book store and are on subjects that do not have anything to do with our lives. I would just have rather received a nice card. I know it's the thought that counts, but come on people - used books?

Someone whom I thought was my best friend, regifted a glass pitcher because she didn't want it!!! How is that for LOW! Like you a card would have been so much more appreciated!

Maybe the person who got you those books is going through a financial situation. Maybe they were just trying to be nice and actually get you something even though it may of been cheap. If they are a distant relative they may not of been close enough to you to know what you like. You really don't know what went through their mind when they got you the books. I would accept them with a smile and send a thank you card for the present.

We got a very old, very used coffee pot...I couldn't believe it! I pulled it out of the box and was baffled! I kept looking it over and over trying to figure out what they were thinking!

I guess they were just testing us though, because inside where the coffee goes was a very nice sized check!

It's a good thing we didn't just throw it away like I wanted to!
