Yes I am. Was taught from a young age.
I guess it makes others who doesn't do this feel very uncomfortable.
My father in law never taught his children this. But I've done this to his family members and him, know if I don't hug him he looks at me as though I've made a mistake. Needless to say he looks for a hug when I show up.

I am a hugger....however, I don't go around hugging everyone, or people I don't know. I believe in personal space and I wouldn't want some stranger or someone I barely know hugging me.♥

Some people didn't grow up in a demonstrative family. They didn't learn early on how to react to someone hugging them.

This was my situation. Then I got divorced and spent months without much physical contact from anyone. A simple touch on my arm would have a fairly strong positive emotional reaction for me. I wasn't a toucher before that, but I am now.

So non-huggers and non-touchers may change, depending on situations.

I used to be when I was younger. I've had people around me that I got to the point that I didn't want to touch and I got out of the habit. Now I would rather you poke me with a stick than hug me. And wait, I belong to a church that hugs either on the first Sunday or whenever a new person is near. I hate it!!! But I haven't found a way around it, shy of not attending or trying to sit alone.

I am a substitute teacher in a city school system and students from time to time hug me, but I only hug the ones that hug me. I try to keep it down by keeping a good distance from all students. I like hugs but when it's other parents child that I don't know, it's uncomfortable, because of how things are often blown out of proportion.

No, it makes me uncomfortable. I prefer to only hug close family. I feel like you are invading my space. If you hug me i will hug you back but i won't like it. No one in my family is big huggers i guess that is why I feel that way.

No, not really. I mean I do hug, but I like to be the one initiate the hug. I hug my daughter and husband all of the time, so I am not a cold person, I just like to "pick and choose" who I hug.

No, I'm not.

It annoys me because I don't like people getting overly familiar and touching me, or getting too physically close to me. It's absolutely nothing personal, but I just can't stand it.

I won't shake hands with other men, either, which some of the fools take umbrage at.

It's enough for me to nod. It should be enough for them to do the same.

It depends on the motive for a person hugging. Some are doing it because they are a people person. Unfortunately some are doing it because it could fall under sexual intentions.
