It will be released to OEM (computer manufacterers) in late november early december. Will hit retail shelves in January.
Before criticising, would you have rather it released too soon so we ended up with another XP debarkle??
Two main things caused the delay from June/July this year:
*feedback from Beta testers that work till needed to be done.
*legal debates from both Adobe (who fought the inclusion of the .pdf format in bot windows and office - even though is already included in OS X...go figure!) as well as certain Anti-virus providers who felt hardly done-by over security measures built into Vista (just shows you who Symantec & the like REALLY care about!)
Personally I'm no massive MS fan, but have been using Vista since before the Beta2 release was made, and I actually think they may be releasing an OS worth using. Now all they need to do is sort out the new licensing debarkle!
