Just to make sure we're on the same page here:
The EXHAUST PIPES are what comes out of the engine, and sweep back.
After the exhaust pipe is sometimes a collector, other times, the pipes go directly into the MUFFLERS.
Exhaust pipes are made out of:
Titanium - best choice, but expensive
Stainless Steel - Best reliability, lightweight, less expensive.
Mild Steel - usually coated with one of the following:
~Paint
~Ceramic coating (usually inside and out)
~Nickel
~Chrome
You can't make a headpipe for a four stroke from aluminum, as the exhaust gasses coming out of the head are hotter than the point at which aluminum melts.
The Muffler shell can be made of:
Carbon Fiber
Aluminum
Titanium
Stainless Steel
Ceramic
Mild Steel
even some plastic polymers are used
The insides of the muffler are usually mild steel or stainless.

You will get ''bluing'' on the 1st part due to the heat that comes out of the pot/s no cure for this but you can reduce is and also clean the rest with SOL VOL AUTO SOL. It's a cream cleaner in a tube used with mutton cloth / stockinette which you can buy from any good car accs shop. used this stuff for 40 plus years and my bits shine even in the dark!!!

Usually 16 gauge steel tubing.
Mostly chromed, but ceramic coating is the new thing.

Titanium is very popular. It's a bit pricey, but very light.
