Why is it I have not heard one Conservative/Republican admit that going into Iraq was a mistake? Or not even that going into there was a mistake but going into there with the plan we went into there with was a mistake? Then, why when we see how bad it is over there losing people everyday their response something like "It will be bad if we just pulled out" or "The Democrats/Liberals don't have a better plan to bring the troops home" when it was the Democrats/Liberals that tried not to go in there in the first place? Furthermore, had we not gone in there would we have had a better response to the Nuclear Iran and N. Korea?

Ok, so if it wasn't a mistake why is the country much worse for its citizens than it was before we went in? On top of that, what did we accomplish by going in there other than almost 3000 American lives lost and more than 100 times that in Iraqi lives lost?

The beating of the dead nag is pointless(going to war being said nag).
That this war is so prolonged started with Ted Kennedy and Durbin crying foul against our military soon after we deposed of Saddam, but I place even more blame on Rumsfeld; he's just incompetent, in my estimation
This conflict has been a disaster for our troops as they are forced to employ antiquated tactics against a very resourceful and murderous enemy.
Anbar Province should have been bombed to rubble years ago, and Al Sadar could have and should have been sent packing to paradise................yet Rumsfeld, at the pleasure or Bush. keeps right on cementing his place in military history as an idiot

I don't claim any political party...I vote based on my own criteria, not on a party. The only way I see Iraq not ending up to be a mistake when the final history books are written many years down the road; is if we stay and support the new Iraqi sovereign government until they are secure (if we leave, the Iraqi people will die in larger masses under the control of all the insurgents...the US can't allow that) AND if the US sets up permanent military bases just like we did in Germany. Our military bases over there stabilized the region! Many people died then too. What a strategic location in between Syria, Iran, Saudi Arabia (which by the way is where all 9/11 hijackers were from). We would be an instant threat to all those countries in the future.

Let's see, if I remeber correctly, both sides of the aisle in Congress voted to go into Iraq. We are fighting radical Muslims over there instead of over here. We have lost about 3000 soldiers, true, but we were losing this many a week in Vietnam, and this many a day in WWII. While we are fighting them over there, they have less opportunity to plan and carry out plans to kill innocent people over here. Do you really think that if we hadn't gone into Iraq, the Democrats would have been ok with a military response to North Korea or Iran. The problem here is that the Democrats don't want to stand up to anyone. They want to cry to the UN and, like Clinton did, give concessions to North Korea to bribe them not to develop nuclear weapons. I for one, am not in favor of the US paying protection money to any rogue idiot dictator just so he will play nice. You say that you don't like this left/right infighting, but your true colors are showing, buddy.

You need to increase you awareness. Most all Conservatives, Republican or not, were opposed to the Iraq invasion and quite vocal in that opposition. Unfortunately, with few exceptions (like Pat Buchanan) they were ignored by that nasty old "left wing" media. It's the neo-con administration and their goose-stepping puppets who were/are all for it.

but that is beside the point.
i am a conservative republican and i think it was right to go, but mistakes have been made. things could have been done better. without the control and intelligence capability of the strongest govt. in the world though, it is impossible to say what i would do differently. no one has claimed that Iraq hes been a total success or anything.

wow so you really dont know how to research facts for yourself.
first of all, it was voted on and passed to go to war. by both parties. second of all, sadam broke at least 17 un treaties and had been all but asking for us to go to war.
we cant just pull out, and they dont want us too either.
the whole north korea thing started well before bush. you can thank clinton for that three year old toddler being an issue.
read some more and then come back.

It's funny how they blame everyone and everything else for their issues, even the media for just reporting about the war or in what context it should be. They should just admit they were wrong from Day 1.

What makes you think we would go into Iran or North Korea if the "can't we just get alongs" had prevailed with Iraq?

The Republicans know it was the right thing to do, so they don't speak out it, the democrats know it was the right thing to do, and only speak out against it to appeal to the liberal element of our population.
