Have sex three times a week.
Having regular sex is the best way to get pregnant. Couples often try to time everything perfectly for ovulation but do not have sex when they think they are not ovulating. It is true that sex that is not within the time of ovulation will not result in pregnancy. However, because women do not always ovulate when they think they will, having sex three times a week will help to a woman cover her bases, so to speak, and not miss an opportunity to get pregnant.
2. Use an ovulation prediction kit or fertility monitor.
Using an ovulation kit to predict when you are ovulating will improve your chances of getting pregnant. For many women charting or other methods of ovulation prediction are too confusing. Ovulation prediction kits work by reading LH surges prior to ovulation. They are relatively easy to use and are generally accurate for predicting ovulation. Fertility monitors, such as the Clear Blue Easy monitor, are also a worthwhile investment if you would like to get pregnant faster. Fertility monitors are similar to ovulation prediction kits in that they read changes in LH but they also read changes in other hormones and don’t require any guesswork for couples. They are easy to use and will tell you when the best time to get pregnant is.
3. Have sex before ovulation (not after).
Sometimes couples get confused about the best time to have sex in relationship to ovulation. You have a small window of time each month to get pregnant. After a woman ovulates the egg will survive approximately 24 hours. Sperm, on the other hand, will live for up to three to five days. This is why having sex two to three days before ovulation will increase your chances of getting pregnant. Don’t wait until the day you ovulate to have sex. Your partner’s sperm will last longer than your egg and you don’t want to miss an opportunity by waiting.
4. Don’t rely on the Calendar method for predicting ovulation.
A lot of couples have heard to have sex around day fourteen of your cycle. This is based on the calendar method and assumes that you have a regular 28-day cycle and ovulate mid-cycle. Although this is better than just picking an arbitrary day to have sex, it is not a very accurate way to predict when you ovulate. Many women do not ovulate on day fourteen and knowing precisely when you ovulate will help you time intercourse better. Ovulation prediction kits, looking at previous months bbt charts, or watching for body cues will help you to determine when you ovulate.
5. Charting may not be the best way to predict ovulation.
Charting is great for tracking your cycle but it does have disadvantages. By the time you can see ovulation on a bbt chart, you have already ovulated. It is good to chart so you can track your cycles, see if you ovulate the same time each month, and also so you can look back on your cycle and see if you timed things right. But if this is your first cycle trying to get pregnant or if you are not ovulating at the same time each month, an ovulation prediction kit would be more helpful.
6. See a doctor before you start trying to get pregnant.
Make sure you are in good health and have had a regular check up from your OBGYN or medical provider. Untreated infections, sexually transmitted diseases, or poor health can affect your chances of getting pregnant. Its good to see a doctor as well as start taking prenatal vitamins prior to trying to conceive.
7. Don’t smoke, drink alcohol, or abuse drugs when trying to get pregnant.
This may seem like common sense but many women do try to get pregnant while smoking, drinking or using drugs. Smoking, drugs, and alcohol can affect your fertility. It will also affect your unborn child. It is important to stop smoking or using drugs and alcohol before getting pregnant and not wait until you find out you are pregnant.
8. Have enjoyable sex.
Sometimes when couples are trying to conceive, sex becomes a job or function of reproduction and is not as enjoyable. Plan a romantic evening or try something different to spice things up. How you are feeling sexually may factor into your chances of getting pregnant. Some researchers believe that having an orgasm during sex increases your chances of getting pregnant. For women, the spasmic movements of orgasm will help pull the sperm into the uterus and for men a better orgasm may increase the man’s sperm count.
9. Have sex in positions that keep sperm inside the vagina longer.
The missionary position is a good position to use when trying to get pregnant. Avoid positions where the woman is on top. Gravity will allow sperm to leak out with these positions. Also try placing a pillow under your hips to help tilt your pelvis and keep the sperm in longer. Don’t get up right after sex. Try to relax and allow the sperm to stay in the vagina as long as possible.
10. There is no such thing as trying too hard to get pregnant.
Most couples get pregnant within a year of trying. If you have not gotten pregnant within a year consult your doctor for advice.

Everyone's cycle is different. There is a myth that woman ovulate 14 days after their period begins...but that is only an AVERAGE and each month can be different. The other thing is that sperm can live inside you for up to 5 days.... The only way to know is to know exactly when you ovulate. There are several ways to know and some are more effective than others. Some can only predict before ovulation happens and some can only predict that is has already happened. The absolute best info I can give you is to go read a book called Taking Charge of your fertility by Toni Weschler. It will help you understand your body and all the myths about it. It will help you time when you are ovulating and the best times to conceive – or not! . It's about knowing your body and knowing when you are fertile or not. My husband and I tried for 1 year and had no luck..… We tried ovulation predictors , laying with pillows under me for 20 min. everything……the first month that I began using the book I realized that my timing was WRONG!. We got pregnant that very first month and I am now due Feb 2, 2007. You can pick and choose what you do with your info. Good luck and don't listen the all the myths! Even if you don't get into charting and everything....it will help you in so many ways!

During each menstrual cycle, a woman's ovaries release an egg, or ovum. This process is called ovulation. This typically takes place an average of about 14 days before the start of a woman's monthly period, but the timing varies from month to month even in the same woman (and sometimes does not occur at all). After ovulation the egg moves toward the uterus through the fallopian tubes, where fertilization may take place. An unfertilized egg may live for about 24 hours. If it isn't fertilized, the egg will be shed during the next menstrual period, along with the lining of the uterus.
A woman is most likely to become pregnant if sexual intercourse occurs just before or just after ovulation. Sperm can survive for several days -- typically two or three -- inside a woman's body. Under ideal circumstances, however, they may remain viable for up to five days. So if sperm are deposited early -- such as during a woman's period -- they can hang around a few days, waiting until conditions are right for conception.
In addition to the survival skills of sperm, a recent study in the British Medical Journal highlights another reason why couples sometimes conceive during the woman's period. Research results indicate that the "fertile window," or time during the month when pregnancy can occur, is highly unpredictable for most women.
During the three-month study, researchers collected data about the hormone and ovulation patterns of 221 healthy women who were trying to get pregnant. They found that, overall, an estimated 2% of women were in their fertile window by the fourth day of their cycle, and 17% by the seventh day. (Day one of the menstrual cycle is the day a woman starts her period.) On every day between days 6 and 21, there was at least a 10% probability, on average, that a woman could become pregnant. In addition, women who reported regular periods had up to a 6% probability of being fertile on the day that menstruation was expected to start. Ovulation was even harder to predict in women with irregular periods, according to the study. The researchers concluded that timing intercourse to avoid (or achieve) pregnancy is quite difficult and cannot be done with precision.

YOu usually ovulate 12-16 days from the first day of your last period so say you have a 30 day cycle and your Period was Dec 1st you would ovulate on or right around the 15th of December, 28 day cycle would be 14thof december etc. There is no safe time to not get pregannt because you can ovulate earlier or later then the approximate ovualtion date a sprem can live for a few days. Hope this helps you out

Gender selection of children is a controversial topic, particularly in terms of genetic therapy and the ethics of picking the sex of your child. While there certainly have been advances in the field of genetics, there are actually some natural and completely ethical things that you can do that will increase the likelihood of selecting a gender for your child.

While no method is 100% accurate, if you are determined to have a boy or a girl, there are a few things that can be done to significantly increase your chances of conceiving the gender of your choice. Remember, the most important thing is to have a healthy baby, regardless of their gender. But if you do want to try to pick the gender of your child, it is possible. Here's what you need to know.
Differences in Sperm
The sperm that carry the Y chromosome are the "boy" sperms, while the ones that carry the X chromosome are the "girl" sperms. The Y sperm are faster, smaller, more agile but they do not last as long as the "girl" sperm. The X sperm are bigger and move quite slowly. In addition to their overall speed, they have different preferences in terms of the acidity of the vagina and cervix. An X sperm does better in an acidic environment while the Y sperm prefer an alkaline environment.
How These Differences Affect Conception
Now that we have established the differences between the sperm that carry different chromosomes, it is important to understand how these differences can be used for natural gender selection. Once you have this information, you can begin trying to conceive a child that will be a specific gender.
If you want to have a boy, the timing is crucial. Since these sperm do not live long, it is vital to time your intercourse as closely to ovulation as possible. This gives the Y sperm time to reach the egg before the X sperm do, increasing the chances that you will have a boy.
If you want to have a girl, you need to give the X sperm plenty of time to reach the egg. Since they live longer, this means that you want to time intercourse a few days before expected ovulation. By the time you ovulate, the Y sperm will have already died off, leaving only the X sperm behind. They will have the time needed to travel up through the cervix to reach the egg and fertilize it.
With over a 94% success rate, what do you have to lose? Check this video - http://tinyurl.com/PlanMyBabyGen

It depends on your partners cycle and close watch from the both of you in the coming months. Technology is so far advanced now that the local pharmacies ie duane read, cvs have fertility monitors. They look just like birth control test and it allows you to track changes in your body temperature, sometimes the length of your cylce and when is the right fertility time for your body.
It truly is amazing what they can do. I pasted a general link on fertitlity calendars but there are so many on the net, this is just to give you the general idea.
"Before ovulation, a woman's basal body temperature (BBT) generally ranges from 97.5 to 98.2 degrees Fahrenheit on average, though it can vary occasionally and be higher or lower. When ovulating, the ovary releases progesterone, a warmth inducing hormone. Generally, a woman’s temperature will not change more than 0.5 degrees during the follicular phase, it will go up at least 0.2 degrees at ovulation and it will stay above the coverline (line drawn at temperature increase for ovulation) during the luteal phase. Within days of menstruation the temperature usually decreases to pre-ovulation levels. Pregnancy causes a woman's BBT to remain elevated beyond the 14 days after ovulation, therefore experiencing higher temperatures past the expected date of menstruation can be the first symptom of pregnancy. "

Approximately 12 - 19 days after the first day of the period of the female partner. Example if she has period on the 1st of Nov then do the 'activity' on 13th - 20th. That is giving sufficient allowance just in case there is some delay in the ovulation.
Usually ovulation takes place on the mid-cycle - that is by adding 15 days as the shortest calculation to the first day of period. Then the sperm is viable for 3 days so an activity earlier is also an allowance given just in case ovulation comes earlier in advance.
However there is no fix and definite rule of dates that gives 100% guarantee to get pregnant as there are different factors which could affect the ovulation period. They are just based on estimated period which pregnancy could happen based on normal patterns.♥

first of all your wife or significant other should buy an ovulation predictor kit and check body temperature everyday. on the days that her temperature are higher than her average then she is ovulating and would have a better chance of getting pregnant. Also a M.D.(obstetrics and gynecologist) can prescribe CLOMID to take on days 5-9 of her cycle and on day 12 do a sonogram to determine if she is ovulating by looking at ovaries and follicles if ovulating she will get an injection beta HCG and then be told to go home and have intercourse and most likely they will get pregnant within a couple(2) weeks. She dcan also get a procedure at the hospital done called HSG to make sure her fallopian tubes are not blocked causing infertility.

You have to take the first day that she starts her period and count 14 days ahead and that is the day a woman is suppose to ovulate but due to every woman being different she could ovulate on the 12 day after her period or even the 16th day. You should use the 14th day as the middle and get the couple of days before it and the couple of days after it. Good Luck!
