You must realize that you are looking for the value of x, not the value of -x, so you would have --3+3=6. A --3 is a +3 so you end up with 3+3=6

OK .. I am sure u got lost with all the answers at the top ..
here is how it is done .. we need to know x .. (not -x)
-x+3 = 6
move x to the other side to make it positive
so: 3 = 6 + x
now to get the x by it's oun .. u will move 6 to the other side (remember it will change to negative)
so: 3 - 6 = x
so: -3 = x or x = -3

to prove it >> -x+3=6
>> -(-3)+3=6 (- with - will be +)
>> 3+3=6

Take away three from both sides

-x+3-3=6-3
The +3-3 cancel each other and 6-3equals three

it becomes -x=3
So a negative version of x=3. The original x must be -3
