I broke my toe about 10 years ago and it still feels funny. It's the "ring finger" of the toe world, and I can't wear flip-flops, because it seems like it wants to bend wrong. I'm actually thinking about going to the doctor about this, because I've always heard just tape it to the next toe, nothing else can be done. but maybe it wasn't set right. They can put your foot in a soft cast (those boots with the straps) to set it correctly.

Yes. I did not go to an MD because there is not much that can be done. I iced the toe a lot and put Arnica gel on it. It took about six weeks to stop hurting. Arnica is wonderful stuff but can usually be found in a health food store or on line. It is considered a homeopathic remedy.

"In many cases, your doctor may recommend that a broken toe be "buddy-taped" to the uninjured toe next to it with padding in between the toes. The injured toe may need to be buddy-taped for 2 to 4 weeks to heal. A stiff-soled shoe may be helpful in protecting the injured toe."

I did this and it worked great! If you don't tape it, it could heal incorrectly and you'll have pain and a disfigured toe for the rest of your life.

Hello Tina,

Yes i have broken my toe and beleave it or not... Dont go to the doctor. They will only charge you for something they cannot do anything about. Unfortunately there is nothing they can do for your toe. Unless your wanting some type of painmed.. then i wouldnt go to the doctor. It just needs to heal on its own.... of course if it is really bad and all crooked then i would recommend either a) getting really drunk/high and fixing it yourself or B0 go to the doctor and pay the fees for him to straighten it out.

No, but i have gotten it smashed in by a door (the mirror was on the door, i was brushing my hair and someone literally slammed the door open on my toe) so i know the best thing to do is to wrap it up and try not to put ANY weight on it. It kills, and it makes the healing process longer. hope that helps (and sorry about your toe)!

When you break your toe, there is not much that can be done. You can put a split on it to stabilize the fracture and take some OTC pain med for pain. Obviously try to keep your weight off that foot.

Yep broke a toe, and did nothing about it. It hurt a little to walk on, but wasn't enough to bother me in college. It still looks a little bend after 10 years, but it's all healed on its own.

If it hurts, see a doctor.

Enjoy your day. :)

If it has turned black and blue ya broke it, if not ya may have just badly jammed it. There isn't much the dotors can do (cause of size of the bones) but to split it. You can try this your self, it hurts but the price is right.
