where background is the tag attribute for placing a background image

path is the location of the file, either absolute or relative

filename is the file's name

extension is the indicator for the type of file like GIF, JPG, etc

This will tile a sufficiently small graphic across the background in a horizontal/vertical grid.

When you save the image it automatically saves as a .psd image... you need to go to save as then JPEG or PNG... there are a couple of other, those are the most common.. then choose the highest quality.. the you add it like a normal picture! Hope i helped! PSD images are large because they contain all the layers that you used in your document, so it is good to keep images saved as these incase you decide to further edit them later.

Why isn't it working... to me it's obvious.

You're linking to a page, not to an image.

Images end with .jpg, .gif, .png
