Just because no-one else bother to read your question enough to even note that the prob lay in the fact that you couldn't actually ACCESS the add/remove programs panel, I'll have to help you out.

Even though the virus/malware MAY be removed, the damage it caused in order to help protect itself remains in play - many virus/malware actually disable or block access to system tools which would be an aid to removing it...the registry editor and control panels are the most targeted tools.

I would first advise re-scanning for viruses to be sure it is gone, as well as scanning for any malware with Ewido for any malware/spyware, as a standard anti-virus is useless against these problems.

Once you've done that you'll need two tools, one to repair the registry ( http://www.pctools.com/registry-mechanic/ ) - this will help to restore some of the default settings as well as remove any erroneous content.

The other is a replacement for your add/remove programs tool (http://www.pc-powertools.com/files/1Click/es.setup.exe ).

Lavasoft also used to provide a few other system tool replacements which I was going to recommend to you, but it appears that they now no longer provide those...my apologies I can't help you there.

Hope this helps - good luck :)

This worked for me...go to start menu button on the bottom left hand corner of your screen, click on CONTROL PANEL. Once that comes up there is a tab that says, ADD OR REMOVE PROGRAMS, click on that and it should give you a list of all the programs that you have on your pc and there is a tab underneath each one that aloows you to CHANGE/REMOVE program, click on that and it should take you to where you want to be!
